View Full Version : Chiefs So who predicted defense wouldn't play a roll?

It's early and I may be wrong but I always thought the defense would play a big roll in this team's success. Who didn't?

It seems all the focus is on Smith but many of us who thought KC would be good this year (with Smith) thought the defense was going to be tough.

Today we saw what was expected by me and few others.

Who is pissed about the defense? What are your concerns?

The defense was fucking awesome, but need to see them against an NFL QB.

Fun to watch, seemed aggressive and having fun playing smart football. It was the jags though so hopefully they use it as confidence building and not an opportunity to get cocky. Oh and excessive celebrating every play is going to get old to watch, very very fast.

They raped a feckless offense. That's what real defenses do.

I think most people here were excited about this defense, though.

At first I was just going to make a comment about rolls, but I decided there are just too many other problems with the post.

I guess I'm not too pissed about the defense giving up zero points.

I love the new look and it's been a very long time coming, but even the 2003 defense raped a couple teams. They played very well against a team with no receivers and a back that admits he may never return to form.

Let's hope they can perform at a similar level against Dallas, who has real NFL talent.

Clay thought run defense would suck as well as Sean Smith.

I thought the defense LEAD the Chiefs team well today. They really RED the offensive schemes very well and were able to intercept TOO passes. The Jaguars offense just was NAUGHT a match FOUR our defense, PLANE and simple.

People that thought the defense would play a big ROLL in the game were definitely WRITE all along. Hell, some people even thought we would even LOOSE the game. Toward the end of the game I was starting to get BOARD with the playcalling because we had such a huge LEED.

I dunno. I got pretty clowned on by a couple people when I suggested this team resembled the 49ers of 2011.

Heard a lot about how that 49ers team had an elite defense, and this one wasn't.

It looked pretty damn good today.

Wake me up when we play a good defensive game against a team with a shred of talent.

Jacksonville has the least amount of offensive talent in the league.

My M.O. is this team is talented and was missing coaching and a QB who could play up to the talent around him and not be a liability.

I can't and don't want to claim others opinions.

I clowned on you because I am sick of everything 49ers. I don't want to resemble the 49ers defense of 2011. I want the Chiefs to resemble THE CHIEFS that we make our OWN identity for 2013 and beyond. We need our own swagger not compare to anyone else.

So fucking sick of 9ers this 9ers that. fucking go away.

This.

5 1st round picks, Flowers, and new guys, likely upgrades, at 3 spots. That plus the common knowledge that the problem with the defense was coaching/scheme.

Everyone gave the D props during preseason and expected good things. Many though would prefer to wait and see. We waited, and they looked good today, really good. They have yet to be really tested though, so understand while encouraged, many of us will still chose to wait and see. Unlike these Alexis Smyth crowners.

That's pretty well been the opinion of the entire board for some time now. At least a couple years, but more strongly after this last season.

Many of us are still waiting on the QB.

There were concerns about CB and Lewis as I recall. Aside from that, the general consensus was that most of our elite players would thrive in an attacking scheme.
