View Full Version : Chiefs Should the league stop Thursday Night Games?

This is more hypothetical cause we know the league isn't going to kill a cash cow. But the quality of the games are just horrible. Especially for the road team who really has one day to game plan (a day that is usually their off day much less). Would you approve the NFL stopping TNF for game quality and player safety's sake?

You're right. The quality is lacking. But goddamn it; I love having NFL games to watch three nights a week.

Bad NFL >>>>>>>>>> anything else you could put on TV on a Thursday night.

The more football = the better.

Early in the season makes it even worse.

Stuff like last night is almost par for the course.

ATL/NO last year, late in the season had an Over/Under of 56
They scored a total 36
http://espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=321129001

Matt Ryan with Julio, Roddy and Tony @ Home had 165 yards on 33 passes. Again, this was the Saints defense.
Falcons 1-11 on 3rd down.

Drew Brees threw 5 INTs, 0 TDs

And neither team had over 5 penalties and only 1 sack each
Both had RBs combine for 100+ on the ground.

Alex Smith last night looks pretty darn good compared to a crapbowl like that.

They should absolutely get rid of them. At the very least move them to Friday night.

But it won't happen. Unless enough of their sacred cows get hurt for them to notice.

If they all suck as bad as last night's game? Yes.

Maybe move them to Fridays.

I'll say this...now that we won it, it's a huge benefit for us.

Essentially, it's getting half a bye week to go along with the regular one we get middle of the season. Hopefully Flowers, Fasano, Kelce, Albert, and Charles can get fully recovered for the next run.

If no one watched, NFLN would end it. So, whose the guilty party? I'm all in for TNF.

They should go back to having them the last 8 weeks of the season.

That would be better for the players but what about going to high school games to watch your son? I wouldn't want to be faced with that decision.

No, but they should ensure all TNF games have 2 teams that are relatively close to each other so travel isn't that big of an issue.

That's no decision at all, believe me.

How about have the teams coming off of their Bye week play each other?

Monday Night Football has become less meaningful and less fun to watch. I liked it better when MNF was the most important and fun game to watch because it had a feel to it. Doesn't have that anymore.

I think NFLn does a better job than ESPN for broadcasting and post game so I would have TNF played on monday night and do away with ESPN MNF.

I think the league is over-saturated. It also makes Sunday Ticket a shitty value when you have 3 national games per week.

I'm fine with Thursday Flex games late in the season, but every week...meh.

Also, the fact that they schedule them with the rest of the schedule way before the season means there'll be some shitty match-ups down the road.

I used to be in the more football=better camp, but the games are awful and usually unwatchable. End them.

It's selfish, but I like having an extra day of pro football to watch.

Seriously? That's a decision? Your son doesn't come equipped with a DVR.

I agree it's like watching too much pron. Well you can never watch too much pron but wives and or GFs don't like you watching too much pron so there could be trouble. Good thing I don't have a GF.

Maybe move them to Fridays.

HS, College, and The NFL try not to step on each others toes if possible. In the US almost all HS games are Friday nights.

Ha ha I know what my decision would be and I'd say screw the NFL. I still would be pissed if they had it on Friday nights when my boy is going to play.

Anyone know what the record is of Thursday Night Football vs the Vegas Totals?

I like it. They are paid well enough to deal with it. Now if the Chiefs would have lost, I would probably not look on it so favorably this morning.

I think they should stop them. I used to enjoy the big Thursday night college games and it was better with them getting the spotlight.

I dont have a problem with them other than the fact they are only broadcasted on NFL Network. That's some BS

I'm fine with TNF.. If teams appearing in them get the bye week right before the scheduled game.

Rain Man

I'm not going to turn down a Thursday game, but I wouldn't mind at all if they eliminated them. It creates an artificial impact on the game when teams are playing a short week or afterwards, a long week.

I am fine with them during the middle of the season when they can combine them with a bye week but the early and late season ones are fucking the road teams big time.
