I'd make an offer for Josh Gordon. He's a special talent who has been hampered by awful QB play. I know he's one step away from a lengthy suspension, but Reid has proven that he values talent over character.

I wouldn't trade a single high pick until like 2016 at the soonest. We gotta keep bringing on young talent.

I think it would take more than that, but with his off the field issues who knows. And if they're willing to trade his talent for a 6th, you have to question whether we'd want to even have him on the team.

Not sure I'd offer anything for a guy whose primary attribute is stretching the defense when I have a QB who will not utilize him.

He would, however, upgrade the returner position, so he could be worth a late round flyer.

Totally not tanking. Right. It's unlikely the Browns could get much in return for either player. Gordon is one misstep away from getting a one-year suspension, while Little can't catch the football. However, both players have loads of talent. Gordon could be one of the best receivers in the league if he really wanted to. It wouldn't be a shock if a team took a gamble on him ahead of October's trade deadline. Gordon will make his season debut today against Minnesota. Sep 22 - 11:01 AM

Appearing on Sunday NFL Countdown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns plan to pursue Texans free-agent-to-be Ben Tate in the offseason.
Tate is going to get paid by someone. After trading Trent Richardson away earlier this week, the Browns' running back of the future isn't on the roster. Willis McGahee is just a 2013 stop-gap, while Bobby Rainey and Chris Ogbonnaya are pure backups. Tate is averaging 8.2 YPC on 18 attempts this season. The Texans may not let him get away with Arian Foster showing signs of decline. Sep 22 - 11:07 AM

Doesn't it worry you that he's up for a second contract in 2014? He's probably going to command about $5-6M per year at a time when we're tight on cap dollars and will have to figure out how to replace or re-sign Albert and sign Justin Houston to what will be an enormous long-term deal. Not to mention Asamoah and Schwartz are both up for contract next year too.

My God this team is consistently a mess. Whenever I see that big, ugly, stupid orange helmet of theirs, the word, "failure," immediately comes to my mind.

My wife is a Steelers fan who lived near Cleveland for a couple years (2006-2008). She said the Steelers fans are pretty cocky in that area (and there are a lot in that area). She has described a ton of interesting/funny Steelers fans vs. Browns fans interactions. Haha, the stories just sound so ridiculous to me...just with how freaking different they are in terms of their team's history combined with the fact that they are rivals and talk mad shit back and forth to each other. The "touched by God" fanbase vs. the "snake bit on a pre-existing snake bite" fanbase.... I mean, when they get into football arguments, what could the Browns fans possibly have to come at the Steelers fans with??? I dunno, it cracks me up when she talks about that Steelers vs. Browns shit...that is a funny rivalry.

Ugh. Not a fan of this. His hands have completely sucked in Cleveland and this becomes kind of a kiss of death to any hope that the Chiefs might open up their offense. With Bowe and Little with McCluster and even Hemmingway in the slot, that is a lineup that completely fails to stretch the field. I get that Smith's our QB, but I'd rather build for our ideal QB rather than build around the limitations of our current guy. I'd much rather Gordon than Little, though I could do without either.

Then why trade him? That's my point.......Oh, and if they got a first for T Rich, who has shown no production essentially, they aren't going to sell Gordon for less. Although with the ability hes showing today, they aren't going to trade him.

Rich doesn't have the off field baggage

No I don't think they trade him.. But to your other point Trent was the third overall pick with no baggage

Hes still more talented than Bowe. Bowe is smarter. But, josh Gordon is 22 years old, hes absolute plutonium.
Get back to me when he has a better stat line than "he's only 22"

Lol so is Von Miller a career fuckup? He's 22 and has made mistakes. But his ceiling is through the roof and he is a perfect compliment to Bowe
Yes Miller is a career fuckup. Is this even in question?

The difference is Miller has performed in the NFL.

Incorrect. He was involved in a domestic dispute last year, and it was reported this week that he was routinely stand offish with other teammates, showed up late for Rehab treatments, and wasn't considered to be a buy in team player....

He averaged over 40 yards per catch on 5 td catches last year. With a terrible qb, and head coach.

Didn't say that. Josh Gordon is better athletically by a mile over Bowe. By the way. Gordon has over 100 yards receiving......

Uhhh he performed well as a rookie with a shitty QB, and getting a late start after being taken in the supp draft. It's not like the browns would be asking a first and a third or so like a WR his caliber would take without the baggage.

Calm down man. Bowe had 15 TDs in '10. He's been a 1,000 yd WR with no QB

Because your front office doesn't believe and/or want him?

It was tweeted today that the GM basically doesn't want him on the team.

Oh he's super talented, and he'd be the most "talented" wr we have outside of Bowe, but when a front office wants to get rid of said talent, theres something going on there.

Oh, I completely agree. Lombardi wants to get rid of anything that he didn't have a hand in getting. that's why Hoyer Is starting and not Jason Campbell. I completely agree with you. Doesn't make it smart to create a huge hole that has little risk, and almost no reward.

You know I get the whole revamping the Browns for the future fire sale thing and acquiring draft picks BUT I really believe you hit on the real reason they let this kid go because when you look at the Browns play today it's is though they were 'born again' and even with Hoyer at QB. Richardson was not only not performing like a 1st rd RB pick but it appears this kid is a locker room cancer. Weeden never sees the field again. Hoyer appears to be that gem in the rough.

Hope so. I do feel that Hoyer has a special quality to him, but, I also see a very Kelly Holcomb esque quality that bothers me. No doubt that the team seamed looser today. Im not sure if that had as much to do with Hoyer, Trich being gone, or having JOSH GORDON. But, Josh showed today just how bad the other receivers on Cleveland are. Good post by you.

yeah, I guess joe banner said yesterday that no more trades would happen. If they beat Cinci at home next week, I will feel safe.

I have a bunch of buddies who are Browns fans. Great people. Totally different from the Bengals crowd. Bengals fans remind me of Rams fans -- bunch of fairweather fans who disappear except for big games.

Browns fans crack me up. They actually enjoy watching the team play miserable. It's almost a comedy to them. When they win, it's like watching a fat girl who just discovered cake.
