Been watching a ton of NFL this season and there really doesn't seem to be a better NFL defensive secondary player than Aqib Talib.

Wish we could get our hands on him.

I don't know what Revis has done since the injury, but if he's good to go, he's probably still on top.

Defensive backs come and go quick in the NFL. Revis, Sherman....maybe Peterson someday.

Cornerback has to be the most pressure filled position in all of sport.

It's amazing what these guys do.

Well, as Im a browns fan first, KC supporter second, I can safely say that Yes, I would take Talib over Chris Owens, or Buster Skine. I can also say that no I would not take him over Joe Haden.

To the Chiefs, I think he would fit in amazingly well in the Sutton scheme. But you wont get me to tell you of which he would start over. I have too much respect for the job that Flowers, and Sean Smith have done.

And by the way. Im not detracting from Talib. I just know how it is to support a player from a college team you liked. I think Talib has all the talent in the world, always has.

I thought this was an educational friendly football discussion, not whether or not I would take him.

Sherman has been a beast this going on his 3rd year.

He was a complete menace in 2011, just last year, he destroyed everyone he faced.

This year, more of the same.

Well he's making 4.8 this year.

That's a good point. But which came first? The chicken or the egg?

Both Browner, Earl Thomas, and Richard Sherman all came in within one year of each other. Earl being in the 2010 draft, Sherman in the 5th round of 2011, and Browner signed from Canada.

Don't remember saying anything like that...of course Julio was "dominated" to the tune of 108 yards receiving plus another 38 on a PI call. 146 combined yards for Jones...translates to 2,336 yards over a full season...not bad for being dominated.

Not all of that was on Talib. Not like Talib had him the whole game.

In fact, Talib did NOT have him on the long bomb down the left sideline during the final drive. That was Dennard/McCourty.

Looked to me like Talib handled him great WHEN he was on him.

They aren't "SEC guys", but they are from schools that are in the SEC. You can't really say that the Big 12 puts a bunch of QBs in the NFL when Gabbert, Tannehill, Daniel, and Smith all played for programs that aren't in the Big 12 anymore.

The SEC is loaded with programs that put QBs in the NFL. Those programs include Mizzou and aTm. The Big 12 has never produced even an average NFL QB. Steve Balboni thinks that's an embarrassment.

Unfortunately the lower bottom feeders QB like Chase Daniel and Brad Smith have to get put in as well.

It's a bit of a shame that a conference's QB lot has to be dragged down so much by one school but it is what it is.

So there are fewer good players from the SEC than all of the other conferences combined?

Shocking!

Unfortunately the lower bottom feeders QB like Chase Daniel and Brad Smith have to get put in as well.

It's a bit of a shame that a conference's QB lot has to be dragged down so much by one school but it is what it is.

Kansas has done a remarkable job of not dragging down their conference's QB lot in terms of NFL success.

RGIII when healthy isn't an average QB? For all the Geno slurping that has gone on here for the last year, he isn't considered average?

Well, as Im a browns fan first, KC supporter second, I can safely say that Yes, I would take Talib over Chris Owens, or Buster Skine. I can also say that no I would not take him over Joe Haden.

To the Chiefs, I think he would fit in amazingly well in the Sutton scheme. But you wont get me to tell you of which he would start over. I have too much respect for the job that Flowers, and Sean Smith have done.

And by the way. Im not detracting from Talib. I just know how it is to support a player from a college team you liked. I think Talib has all the talent in the world, always has.

I thought this was an educational friendly football discussion, not whether or not I would take him.

hell, ANYONE COULD OF HAD HIM. No one made him an offer.Joe Haden was incredible yesterday. Outstanding player for the Browns.

He might become an average QB if he stays healthy, thus making him the best QB ever from a Big 12 school. He's currently the 30th rated QB in the NFL, so he has a lot of ground to make up to get there.

But when the game is prime I need to see him come through.

Talib has the throne as of now.

Sherman put clown shoes on arguably the best possession receiver in the game a few weeks ago in a "prime" game.

I don't know what it is about him, maybe its because of those big bubba lips he looks like this to me,

Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib intercepted a first-half pass against the Chiefs on Thursday night to give him 29 picks since 2008. That number is tied for the most during that span. A closer look at the list:

Aqib Talib 29
Asante Samuel 29
Tramon Williams 27
DeAngelo Hall 26
Richard Sherman 24

Talib has 7 interceptions returns for touchdowns as well. Only players in fron tof him still playing are Charles Woodson (11) and Charles Tillman (8).

I think Talib and Peters are actually pretty similar. They are the gambling, ball hawking types, not the cover types like Sherman and Sanders. Don't get me wrong, they can cover too, but they have a knack for jumping routes and taking more aggressive lines than other CBs can.

Been watching a ton of NFL this season and there really doesn't seem to be a better NFL defensive secondary player than Aqib Talib.

Wish we could get our hands on him.

Just bumping to say Talib is a piece of shit.

Talib is an excellent cornerback, not only in coverage, but in being a very good and able tackler and willing to do take on contact in run defense.

He is also a thug and a complete meathead. He also gets hurt in the back half of just about every season.

When you're a defensive player of the year candidate pretty much every player on the opposing team is gunning for you every game.

He tried to poke someone's eye out. "Emotions" is no excuse. Talib should literally be charged with assault.

The fact that you defend him makes you as bad as him.

Your comment would make more sense if Talib was actually INVOLVED in teh altercation, instead of being a guy that decided to "help out" his teammate by jumping in and poking someone in the eye.

He should be suspended. Fine alone is insufficient IMHO.

In the NHL where fighting is actually part of the game, you'd get kicked out for what Talib did. If two guys are fighting and someone else comes up and jumps in, it's automatic. The third man in gets ejected.

But this wasn't even a fight, it was two players pushing and shoving as is normal on the football field and it had nothing to do with him. And yet he ran up from the sideline and jammed his hand inside the guy's face mask, because that's the kind of thing he does.

Yes. I told my 11 year old, hwo was watching the game with me, that he needed to be suspended for at least one game for that, because it was completely ridiculous. I didn't even know their next game was against the Chiefs.

Then I turned to him and asked how he wasn't ejected from the game right then and there. That made no sense to me.

Does that make it less of a cheap shot? Was he TRYING to poke the guy in the eye, or not?

Mile High Mania

Talib should have pulled Miller away, and that should have been the extent of his involvement. If they had acted as aggressive on any of the previous 3rd down and anythings... maybe, maybe they stop the Colts.

Doesn't matter... stuff happens in a game, tempers flare. Avoid the penalty, show you're mature enough to walk away and stop him on the next play.

Mile High Mania

Yeah, but look at the penalties that defense has this year... there's something to be said for having a bit of discipline. I love the aggressiveness and the nastiness, but not the bullsh like that or the throat stomp.

It takes away from what has otherwise been really good play by the defense. They fell apart yesterday though, maybe the defense was too caught up in all their great PR and he Manning buzz. They paid the price and a huge one when you consider the playoff seeding ramifications this loss now holds.

The nice thing is that we know that the Broncos will melt down if things don't go their way. They were starting to do it in the Chiefs game when they were losing, because Von Miller, that Malik guy, and that backup linebacker and some other guy all took cheap shots when it looked like they were going to lose. Now they did it against the Colts.

If Denver makes the playoffs, they're going to melt down at the first sign of trouble.

I'm going to be honest here. That's one of the worst cheap shots I've ever seen. That's as bad as Bill Romanowski trying to break the running back's finger, or George Foster diving at the back of the Bengal lineman's knee, or Von Miller killing a prostitute in a crack house.
