Pretty much this.

The NFL probably rigged it to create excitement about the game day stadium experience, and I'm not generally a conspiracy guy.

I wonder what our number would be if we had Seattles closed stadium. Also, it is very easy to get that high in a split second. When everyone bursts all at once you can get there. When they tried to sustain noise we were at 110 or so. That burst when everyone cheered all at once gets it.

Guinness has a pretty set group of rules for measuring records. They are usually pretty particular about how records are set. Unless Guinness is in on the "conspiracy" with the NFL.

The Kansas City Chiefs attempted to beat the Seahawks stadium noise level today. The results were not even close. 12th Man is 110dBs when we are trying to be quiet. Nice try KC.

Well it's probably technically WAY more than doubling, after all every +3dB is considered a doubling in power....although perceived loudness isn't quite as linear.

Ok. The past measurements were probably way low then. To go from 125 (our previous record) to 137 requires more than 10x more audio energy.

Yep, it's actually 15.8 times the power and 2.3 times the volume/loudness. So there has to be a change in measurement because even with optimal air pressure conditions that's just too much of a change.

Exactly what I was thinking. You really expect me to believe the stadium was that much louder than some of the games we had in the 90s? Or louder than some of those Dante Hall returns in 2003?

No way.
