"Cell phone video captured the moments leading up to the eventual arrest of a Richland County deputy. The off-duty deputy says he is making an arrest.

Paul Allen Derrick, 49, would later be charged by responding officers from the Columbia Police Department."

Did you read the story? Doesn't read like anything other than a drunk off-duty deputy trying to force himself on a Soldier, and for unknown reasons saying he was a Marine (which apparently he never was).

Just a dumbass former cop exercising poor judgement.

Edit: just watched the video, and she appears to be pretty drunk herself. Excuses nothing.

WTF?

so, off-duty cops can just detain people? Fuck that.

I'm not sure what I'd do if an off-duty cop did that to my wife. No idea what this lady did, but just the fact that he's off-duty pisses me off. "Here's my badge"...yeah, fuck you; I don't know if that shit's real.

What does Pioli think of this?

He only mentioned that he was impressed by the immaculate, litter free condition of the Buffalo Wild Wings floors.

Judging by the fact that he was fired, I think the answer is clear.

For the whole time (about 10 minutes) of the video, other customers did try to intervene but were waved off by that deputy. One woman even told the person taking the video to stop, and for a few moments she was purposely blocking the video taking.
