Clemson's athletic department announced it was trying to break a world record during Saturday's game for the loudest sports stadium but didn't quite make it.

The Tigers were hosting Florida State in a top-five matchup at Memorial Field.

The record of 137.5 decibels was set on Sunday by the Kansas City Chiefs fans when they hosted the Oakland Raiders.

A representative from the Guinness World Records was monitoring the volume in the stadium during the game. Officials said the crowd reached 125 decibels.

Yeah. Clemson was perhaps overrated. Slightly.

That place can seat over 85,000 people, too.

We rock.

125.9 is a tiny fraction of Seattle or KC. On the decibel A-scale sound energy doubles every 5 dB. So 125.9 is less than 1/4 the sound of even the Seahawks.

This is getting fucking stupid. Be loud because you wanna be, don't be loud because you have to for a record. This isn't fun anymore lol.

So is a new stadium gonna try and break it every week now? This is getting ridiculous.

Broncos fans want in. They have a shot at the record, I think. Their sobs will be overwhelmingly loud when we're spanking their asses in a few weeks.

It's worse than that. It's actually a factor of 10 for every 10 dBs, so it doubles about every 3 dBs.

It's all bullshit anyway. Until they figure out a way to measure it on the field itself, it's really just a measurement of how loud one section can get.

So help me, the Chiefs would be smart to pay you for the rights to that clip, just so they could actually put that up on Arrowvision during games.

I bet Andy Reid would love it too...

Mini megaphones? Seriously? I thought that any kind of extra noise makers would automatically disqualify them. Stupid.

I'm assuming they are non-amplified plastic tube thingies, which technically don't increase the amount of noise you are making, they just direct more of the noise towards the field.

This is becoming an epidemic. Of course once all these teams realize it can't be broken, it'll cease.

It will be so damn funny if Seattle falls short in their next attempt.

I'll laugh my ass off should that happen. But I have a feeling with the design of that stadium they will be successful.

The Chiefs really should have asked to go for the record of loudest crowd roar in a COMPLETELY open air stadium. Not only would Seattle not be able to top us, it would have been a nice little bitch slap at their "record".

So we went for the partially open air stadium? Who the fuck decided to do that? How stupid.

There are stadiums that are over 100,000 that may not break it.

No. My point is that Seattle is a partially open air stadium but, for whatever reason was not designated as such.

I don't think they have two distinct categories like that.
