View Full Version : Funny Stuff Tampa Radio Buys 19 "Fire Schiano" Billboards

As the Buccaneers prepare for a rare prime-time game (and the nation is thankful for that), a local radio station has purchased billboards urging that it be GM coach Scott Pioli Greg Schiano’s last.

The message says “Fire Schiano” against a background of flames.

“The ‘Fire Schiano’ billboard is simply a reflection of the Tampa Bay community’s opinion of the Buccaneers’ Head Coach,” said Michael Sharkey, Program Director of 102.5 The Bone WHPT, in a statement released to PFT. “Our listeners have voiced their opinion that they are tired of a team, that on paper, should have a winning record. This billboard isn’t a message to the Buccaneers as much as it is a message to our listeners that we are right there with them.”

The billboard has been installed, according to the station, in 19 locations.

Coincidentally, tonight’s game against the Panthers comes 52 weeks to the day after the then 2-4 Bucs went to Minnesota on a Thursday night and upended the Vikings, 36-17. This year, they won’t have running back Doug Martin, who had a breakout game on the national stage.

They also don’t have quarterback Josh Freeman, who did enough that night to persuade the Vikings to sign him even after his play dipped down the stretch in 2012 and through the early weeks of 2013.

Didn't they learn anything from us? You need a fan revolt at the stadium.

Trying to improve the Donks strategy.

It might work only because of how awful Schiano is.

Yep, the SOC movement gives the blueprint for all disaffected fans. As long as:

1. There's clear and indisputable evidence that change is required.

2. The movement has strong leadership and stays focused on the goal.

3. The movement is stellar at media relations.

A billboard isn't going to do it.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000268792/article/greg-schiano-losing-tampa-bay-buccaneers-with-autocratic-style

Barring a shocking and almost inconceivable turnaround during his second season of running the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' ultra-tight pirate ship, he'll likely leave with a whimper, dashing back to college football during or after the conclusion of this miserable campaign.

With an 0-6 record in 2013 and 11 defeats in his past 12 games dating back to last November, Schiano is underperforming in an unforgiving industry, which is reason enough for the Glazer family to fire him. Yet this coaching faceplant transcends losing.

As the Bucs prepare to host the Carolina Panthers on NFL Network's "Thursday Night Football," it's abundantly clear that Schiano and the NFL are as poor a fit as Yasiel Puig and the NLCS, on so many levels. Most glaringly, the autocratic Schiano operates with an inherent deficit of respect, both for America's preeminent sports league and for the men he's trying to lead.

And yes, you'll notice I used the word men. That's because I've spoken to enough people who've played for Schiano during his two NFL seasons to conclude that he treats his players like children, which is a major reason he has lost his locker room.

"How bad is it there? It's worse than you can imagine," says one NFL player who spent 2012 with the Bucs. "It's like being in Cuba."

I think it's pretty obvious that Schiano is gone after the season. The OP is right, the buccs look like a really good team on paper. The buccs have some real nice skill guys and a lot of money tied up in them too. With so much backlash and the Freeman debacle....the dude is walking dead.

The billboards are just an attempt by the radio station to get attention and listeners.

Not surprising that he's butt buddies with Pioli given the way they treat their subordinates, coupled with historic levels of incompetence.

He's fired if they lose tonight.

Then he's fired.

This is exactly what happened with the Chiefs last year. I am 100% convinced that KC's players actually stopped trying. They didn't want to win. They wanted to lose. They wanted there to be no doubt that either the coaches or they were somewhere else this season.

I completely, totally believe that.

You watch as 2014 brings in a new coach and suddenly that Tampa defense is straight balling fools.

Kicked Dexter Jackson (SB XXXVI MVP) out of practice recently when he wanted to watch. Jackson told him to call up Glazer if he wanted to remove him from practice.

Sorry, but it doesn't have as much as an impact as a banner being flown by a plane over the team's stadium. People see billboards all the time, it would be to easy to look past the billboard. There's no looking past a Fucking loud ass plane with a long banner.

hell yeah. I'm still glad I donated whatever it was, like $25

$25 to tell Pioli basically to fuck himself etc.

That was one of the best days here on CP when the banner thing was going down - before the SOC movement started.

...that, and the day Fisty McTatt broke loose - which thankfully I was a part of. I vividly remember not doing shit that day at work. not a single thing.
