Sorry if Q.

Chiefs 24
Browns 10

Avery and Fasno catch TD passes. Charles rushes for one. Alex throws for 200 yards, finishing the day 19/30 with two TD's and no interceptions. Smith also has 45 rushing yards on the day.

Browns score a TD on a long pass due to a busted play, but otherwise have trouble moving the ball on the ground and through the air.

Defense finishes with 5 sacks, and two INT's.

Chiefs start slow. Browns Campbell throws the ball to the Chiefs defense, on which play Hali, and Houston destroy Campbell right before half, bringing Brandon Weeden.

And we all know how the story goes after that.

Their D is awful on 3rd down, allowing teams to convert 54% of the time. Horton will blitz Alex all day until we stop it, can take advantage of one-on-one match ups and/or our WRs can get separation. I think our D and ST wins this game...again. Maybe, just maybe...we'll beat them on 3rd down.

No idea. but unlike you, I could care less what his stats are, as long as the team keeps racking up w's

Don't get me wrong. It would be AWESOME if he wouldn't miss four guys wide open in one play. And actually you know, make a game definitive instead of nail biting every single game. But, honestly, at the end of the day. The wins matter.

And unlike you, who is under this delusion that the defense cant play this way every week, I disagree. I believe the defense will stay at their level, and the offense which really cant play any worse, will play better.

NOT GREAT, it doesn't have the talent as a whole, and the qb cant close that gap like a Rodgers, brady, or brees. But it can play okay enough.

How am I getting owned?

By pointing out that while you keep saying hes going to lead to losses, and pointing out that obviously its not the case, while pointing out that obviously he and the offense need to, and should play better.

By admitting that the talent as a whole isn't good enough to be a top 10 offense, it is competent enough to be a top 20, which with this defense would be enough to beat anyone.

Oh yeah, im getting owned because some where in here I said that Alex Smith was better than he is?

Please find it, because that would be your SENSE of ownage.

And uh, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

Mav
10-26-2013, 05:05 PM
One thing Clay. You already knew Alex Smith was the road block. The players around him have to play better. They have to carry Alex. You knew that coming in. I knew that. Every chiefs fan knew that. And to know that, how bad the offense itself has been playing, to be 7-0, about to be 8-0?

That is saying something. The only way the offense COULD play worse, is if it were turning the ball over repeatedly. Not gonna happen.

It will play better.

You don't really want to put up a percentage of getting owned mister 7-9, mister this defense cant carry alex smith, mr. alex smith has to have a top running game and top oline to win. Mister Bob Sutton was thrown out of new York.

This isn't a game you want to play.

I have been very polite to you, all the way around. But, if you want to be a bitch about it.

It took 5 weeks for me to let you out of our bet. You predicted 7-9 for the Chiefs season record. that will be demolished tomorrow.

You don't have a leg to stand on, nor a pot to piss in.

Just throwing this in because I ****ing can.

... and yes, we all want Alex to play better football. ( well except for Sweet Pussy Hate and Claynus )

- The KC #1 and #2 TEs were injured and off the field 90% of the time. Fasano has been targeted 12 times and has 3 credited drops already.
- Their OL consists of an injured rookie RT, a C with only a few games of pro experience, and a LG ranked 63rd of all OGs in the game right now.
- Aside from a good run here or there, even Jamaal Charles has been less than effective on many runs. PFF has him ranked 23rd in RBs. Outsiders has him ranked 17th in success rate... and yes, much of this is due to the OL failing to open anything up.
- The Chiefs are tied with the SECOND MOST offensive penalties.
- The Chiefs are SIXTH MOST in team drops.

Alex also does need to pick up his game... he isn't being completely left free from blame.. whether mentioned often or not. He is capable of better play despite all of the aforementioned issues that the offense is going through.

Homerism mostly.

But, the dline of the Browns, the linebacking corps total, and the secondary, is better for the browns than the Texans.

Individually, Cushing, Watt, are better than any single of the browns, but the units themselves are better.

Houston is giving up 4.1 YPC, and a lot of points. Some of that is due to turnovers, but still.

Cleveland is giving up 6.0 yards per attempt and 3.5 yards per rush. That is dominant.

Cleveland is giving up 6.0 yards per attempt and 3.5 yards per rush. That is dominant.

What, A WASTE. Seriously. just, BLEH.

They will understand tomorrow. The browns defense is very good. Just the turnovers, and horrid qb play.

Just, PITIFUL.

Homerism mostly.

But, the dline of the Browns, the linebacking corps total, and the secondary, is better for the browns than the Texans.

Individually, Cushing, Watt, are better than any single of the browns, but the units themselves are better.

Just an opinion though.

Hmm, well atleast you admitted some bias there, but i'm having a hard time seeing it, i mean maybe from an individual talent level, maybe... but that is a team in major flux right now, that individual talent doesn't mean much when the team from the top down is in disarray.

Look no further than KC's six pro bowlers from last year to prove that point.

New head coach on a perennially bad team, just traded maybe their best weapon, QB situation is an absolute mess, the men have nothing to believe in or fight for... it just doesn't look good for Cleveland right now at all, and I say that with real sympathy, if anyone can feels a Browns fans pain... its a Chiefs fan.

Didn't Fitzpatrick win all of them?

Jason Campbell is a lot like Alex Smith from what I remember of him with the Raiders. Runs when he has to and is efficient with the ball. He'll play better than Weeden would but even though the Browns have a stout defense I don't think they hold up any better than the Titans or Texans when we faced them. and though it was a close game last week, we were 2-yards away from finishing up 31-16. I think we're closer to breaking out than breaking down.

A lot of people here are sleeping on the Browns defense. They're the Browns and, outside of Haden, have basically no star power so people think they suck in all facets.

This one will probably be just like all of our other games. Way too close for comfort heading into the fourth where we, after grinding for three quarters, pull ahead for a nice finish.

If we even scored 1 more TD per game we'd have the highest point-differential in the league.

If this offense ever gets going we will be unstoppable.

And "going" is defined by scoring 7-10 points more per game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Texans D had been giving up 129 yards per game prior to playing KC. Alex threw for 250+. I think that's pretty damn good against the number 1 passing D in the league. Not the Browns. I am seeing them as seventh at 219.9 passing yards per game. Cleveland is middle of the pack in points allowed. 17th with 22 points/ game. And who cares about their yards per play allowed? Just cherry picking a stat to back up your claim. Fact is, you said that they were the best against the pass in the league, That generally applies to to yards, not yards per attempt. And like I said, Alex threw for nearly double the yards that the Texans had been allowing, so I feel confident that he will have a good day against the Brownies. Yeah, those pick sixes are the fault of the Texans' D. First downs don't matter, do they? If the Browns' D is so much more efficient than the Texans, why have they allowed 98 more plays? I am sorry old friend. Yards per play is the defining statistic for all defenses. It has been this way for a long time and will continue to be this way.

In fact, breaking everything down on a per-snap basis is the best way to evaluate NFL teams and players.

It's funny how everyone is upset about the passing game. Everyone says that this is a passing league, That you have to put up big passing numbers to win. That is a Myth, Look at the big passing games this year. Already we have seen 13 400 yard passers this year. Six of them have lost. KC has won 7 without the big numbers. Take Denvers first loss last week for example. Luck had a mere 216 yards to Patdayton's 386. The winner? Hmm. Sure wasn't the team that put up huge passing numbers now was it? And it's not just this year. Look back. Since 2006, there have been 60 passers of 400 yards. 20 have won. Hell, Cassel had a 469 yard game in 2010 against the Broncos. Guess what. We lost. Paydayton is always throwing for lots of yards, yet he has 8 one and dones in the playoffs. No, great defense may not be as exciting as great offenses to watch, but it's still the best way to win in the NFL. I'll take our D over Denver's O every time.

Chiefs will struggle early, then rally again as usual.

At half: KC 14 - Cleveland 10
Final: KC 28 - Cleveland 13

I love the fourth quarter production this year, team has been trained to close games out properly. Focus is in winning and not on how they win. This is a huge football characteristic.

Would it be fun to see Alex throw more "risky" sexy downfield passes? Of course, but if you're in the lead, why force plays? That is how they're playing.

Now, the million dollar question; how do they play in the fourth quarter when losing? It's going to happen, and hopefully sooner than later

He is capable of better play despite all of the aforementioned issues that the offense is going through.

it's hard being Smith, when no one around you is good enough...

Really stupid post that's just begging for attention.

Alex does have flaws and does make mistakes. He is not without some measure of blame. Sorry that some hate to hear this.. but when a team wins games in the end, blame is pretty weak and petty. That may seem True-Fan-ish to some, but it's just the way it goes.. and doesn't mean that every little problem area is overlooked and thought to be perfect.

Alex was terrible on that McGrath endzone pass... he was stupid for throwing that shit-placed sideline pass to Charles.

Those two plays dampen an otherwise good performance from Smith. 67.6 % comp.. 240 passing... 28 yds rushing and a rushing TD.. add in two? 15 yard penalties on their D for hitting him... consider that two? passes to Fasano were an inch or actually were TD passes not called....

... all of this against a top ranked defense.

Yet all people can do is bitch and moan because they never accepted the guy in the first place. "Boo-hoo... winning ugly sucks... taking my team from 2-14 to 7-0 sucks... it's all on the defense! this isn't a team game or anything, derp!"

smith is objectively bad...like around 20th in every available metric

it makes you cry, but there it is

Eric Berry is objectively great...as is Charles, Hali, Houston etc...metrics support what the eye of any fan can see during a game

if Smith were as good a QB as Charles were a RB, or Houston a LB, or Berry a safety then people here would praise him...and that praise would be right and deserved

but he isn't...he's mediocre at everything, and flat out terrible at several things, and there is nothing to argue on that point

My "investment" in him sure didn't carry over to the Tennessee and Oakland games... where I did call his play average at best. He has had moments and stretches of game of underwhelming play. At least he isn't Eli Manning it all over the field.

As for your hostility and internet tough guy act.. my feelings are hurt now.

it's hard being Smith, when no one around you is good enough...

has a QB ever had to overcome as much as him?

that int he threw in the 4th quarter that wasn't his fault...or the missed TD pass that the Earth's rotation ****ed up, bitch Earth

pretty sure his pathetic completion percentage is the fault of that **** Math...

do you guys get together after games and cry into salads?

NOt nearly as much as you do.

You whine like a little bitch all the time.

I have NO problem admitting Alex Smith is part of the problem. Would a elite qb get more? Sure, but even the GREAT TOM BRADY was doing jack shit with NOTHING.

You have to have weapons.

The Chiefs offense outside of CHARLES, is mediocre across the board.

If that isn't apparent, then you are just a clueless jackass with an Ax to grind.

Alex, part of the problem, maybe the biggest. But the PIECES around him certainly don't make it any easier.

I don't think anyone would disagree with this, but expecting remarkable efficiency after 7 games with so many new parts? That's a bit unreasonable. Whether an 8 year vet, or a "mighty" choco-penii rookie.... doesn't matter. Most QBs and nearly every single one needs time in a new system with new players before they can become really good.

This offense was ranked 14th in efficiency prior to the last few weeks... now, they are 18th. That's not really good... but for all the problems pointed out with this offense, 18th isn't a number to cry much over. If this offense is still 18th or worse in December, then I will easily agree that things are not progressing well enough.

Some other legit reasons for "struggle": he lacks the testicular fortitude and vision to make many plays with his arm.

So strange how fans of other teams follow shitty players from place to place. I do wonder if a small segment of KC fans do the same.

The Cassel situation played out the exact way I feared from day one, and Alex has progressed exactly as I predicted to this point as well. I remain much more concerned over our Jeckyl/Hyde defense. Further, Alex's crucible remains, as ever with me, in the playoffs.
