View Full Version : Chiefs what is the number one reason we haven't lost?

Just wondering what everyone thinks is the one thing. I will say our ability to not turnover the ball is the biggest. It's boring playing it safe like Alex does but playing mistake free football was a big reason NE won 3 titles. Defense is the obvious other reason but not turning it over affects them as well.

yeah, our previous teams (defense) would just give up after a turnover or long play

Turnovers.

Last 2 weeks there have been crucial turnovers by the opposing team to seal it for the Chiefs. The sack fumble against Houston and today with the muffed punt. Not to mention the 5 we had against Philly, but only won by 10.

Defense. Our team is entirely dependent on defense. The last two weeks are scary realizations that this team's success will ride the coat tails of the defense...

I would add coaching into the mix, this defense pretty much has the same players as last year and is 10x better. Coaching has a lot to do with this. So 40% schedule, 50% coaching and player progression, 10% luck.

A combination of many things but to be fair and honest here, winning is much more fun and this team has a very long ways to go before we can compete for a title.

We're playing as a team. All 3 units are doing enough. The D is clearly the leader of the team, and the offense is clearly dysfunctional, but they've had some pretty timely drives so far this season when we really needed them. Alex has picked up quite a few first downs with his legs that helps make up for his lackluster passing skills.

That helped us a ton, but there's no guarantee they would have beat us if he held onto that punt or caught that pass. In any close victory you can go back and say "if this player had or hadn't done this or that we would have lost". For example, if we would have lost someone could say "If Alex Smith hadn't overthrown Fasano and/or Avery we would have won".

Defense, Colquitt/Succup, Jamaal Charles and the new front office/coaching staff (the whole attitude of the team was transformed, starting in week one; they find ways to win in a way they just haven't in the last 15 years - I attribute that to a combination of personnel management and coaching).

While I love Jamaal Charles and he certainly is effective under Andy Reid, at least catching the ball, I really miss the 6.0 yards per rush Jamaal Charles.

Without looking at the responses it is absolutely
The defense: BUT the play calling is tempered by the score and the time clock. So it remains to be seen how they play from behind

I would like to add; it's very frustrating watching this offense "struggle" while Jason fucking Cambell throws bombs on the chiefs defense

A QB that doesnt turn the ball over, is a smart game manager, and field control helped by the stellar defense (though im worried about our pass defense).

KC Chiefs are basically the 2011 49ers

You think Matt Cassel wins us this many games?

Smith isn't the perfect solution, but he's been good enough for us. I don't think he can carry the team in the playoffs, but in more than half of our games, he's been very efficient. Today was no exception. We dominated time of possession today. Our big problem is Alex has to start finishing the many good drives we've had.
