My wife is in the hospital tonight. I'm home with the kids. Started off with my wife getting ill in July, and losing 40 lbs from then until now. Today, she endured the scopes, both ends. We're waiting on biopsies, and trying to reduce an infection in her colon. Could be cancer, there are perforations from the lower intestine into her abdomen. Most likely she's going to require a removal of big piece of her lower intestine.

I'm a fucking mess right now. I'm trying to keep my kids focused on positive outcomes. I spent 31 years of my life waiting for a woman like her to come into my life. I haven't been this scared since the Doc told me I had cancer in 1983. Whatever you've got on the positive side, I'm not afraid to ask tonghti.

Prayers out to you and the family. This sounds very similar to what my sister experienced. She ended up having Crohn's. Prayers for something minor and treatable and a quick recovery. I wouldn't wish cancer or crohns on anyone.

We're bringing her home. Looks like we might've dodged cancer, but we're waiting on biopsies. Based on what we know, she has diverticulitis. Apparently, she had a polyp in her lower intestine rupture, then get infected. The antibiotics are helping. We're going to schedule surgery to have a resection and removal of that part of her colon. They want the antibiotics to reduce the infection as much as possible before the procedure.

Thanks all for the positive thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to my family and me.

Wife has gone to the hospital for surgery. They're putting her under at 10:30. We moved her procedure up from Jan 14 to today due to the amount of pain she was in, but it created a conflict for me at work. I'll be leaving my office at 11:30 and hopefully get to the hospital as she goes into recovery. Hoping that this one operation can resolve the problem, but the docs are taking a wait and see approach.

Wanted to thank all of you for the support.

Wife is in her hospital room now, hitting the morphine button every time a new dose rolls over. She'll be in the hospital for 4 days, they tell me, but she'll be home for Christmas, albeit a "foot shorter". Doc told me hers was about as inflamed and "angry" a bowel as he's seen in some time. Hope we don't have to do a second round f this anytime soon.
