Mason was impressive.

Plus that really allows that've to play more Russell Robinson type role, which IMO, is better

Yeah, I really like what I've seen from Mason in these first 2 games. Didn't realize the kid was this good. A definite bonus. Tharpe wasn't bad tonight. He just wasn't real impressive. Mason was. He played better.

The guy who surprised me the most was Mason, he is awesome already and the lowest rated recruit coming in.

imo KU looked amazing against Duke when Tharpe and Mason both were on the court.

I am happy for Andrew Wiggins. I am happier about the game. But I am happiest to know that we are set at PG for the next 4 years. Mason not only has amazing handles, quickness and brains, but he also has ****ing ice floating in his veins. Dude just does not give a ****. He's a machine.

Couldn't agree more. His poise was so damn impressive. I expected a few bonehead plays here and there, but they were nowhere to be seen. I think we all just expect fuckups at the point after years of watching Taylor and EJ ruin championship runs.

Taylor played pretty well to get us into a championship game, but ya very inconsistent.

Is mason our next sherron?

If he develops a shot, then I don't see why not. While he will probably never be as strong as Sherron, he possesses the handles and the quickness to come pretty damn close. It's also probably safe to say he won't slow down due to weight issues as he ages.

Such ridiculous offensive talent on this team. Just imagine their potential when Self gets them to play any defense at all.

Wiggins showed the fire I had been waiting to see for him down the stretch. It seems it may just take a big moment to get him fully motivated. Hope to see that side of him come out more often. Great, efficient game for him on the whole, he's got all the tools to be a NBA star and showed virtually all of them tonight.

Selden is a great slasher, rebounder, and passer already. Self relied on him considerably all game for good reason (37 minutes). Going to be a very important piece for this team.

As has been stated many times before, Embiid has a very unique skillset for his size. The way he moves is incredible. He also has a tremendous feel for the game on the offensive end, which is the most surprising thing about him considering his lack of experience. It's going to be fascinating watching his development.

Ellis continued with his same level of play that he showed in the postseason. No surprises there. Duke doesn't exactly have any bigs, so this wasn't the most challenging game for him. He'll need to be a major scorer for KU in the post, but I have confidence that he'll manage to do it against bigger guys.

Perhaps the most surprising development, though, is just how good Mason is. He might be their best on-ball defender right now (other than a motivated Wiggins) and he's fantastic at slashing to the basket (11 for 12 from the line). He may not be as good a passer as Tharpe, but that's just about the only thing he doesn't seem to be as good at right now. They were clearly much better with him on the floor tonight than without him.

Tyshawn played incredibly well in the 2nd half of his last season. Pretty much carried that team way past what anybody thought their ceiling would be. It's why he's in the NBA right now.

Im so happy that this day has come. A point guard better than Tharpe. Mason is the real deal. He might not even be a 4 year player. I dont even care if we get Tyus. Im that jacked about Mason.

We look great when Tharpe and Mason are out there at the same time.

It reminds me of having Collins and Chalmers out there at the same time.
