Looks like a bug-eyed Hitler. You'd think he'd grow the little moustache just to complete the look.

It's interesting to me that a lot of white supremacists seem to have bad genes. I look at them and think, "Really, that's the purity that you want to preserve?"

Damn it, a comedian I can’t think of at the moment had a routine along these lines that ended with, “I’d think mating with a swarthy, brown eyed person would be a refreshing little dip in the gene pool.”

the geneticist in me would say that they've been WAY too picky with the positive assortative mating--the allele frequencies for their shitty recessive genes must be through the roof, and without inbreeding depression setting in, all of their recessives have come through to produce incredibly ugly, horrible people (add in the epigenetic effect that comes from the horrible actions/attitude they have and you have the recipe for horror).

They should whack these death row guys within one year of sentencing. Stupid to let them languish for years and years. Once sentence is passed, carry it out.

Larry Flint actually sued to have his death penalty overturned because he doesn't believe its a deterrent.

It's not called the "death deterrent". It's called the "death penalty".

It's not supposed to deter future criminals. It's supposed to punish convicted criminals.

All I know is that Ted Bundy was able to escape from jail and kill several young women after he'd already been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. But the funny thing is that after he was recaptured and eventually executed, he didn't kill any more young women.

That's the thing about the death penalty: you know THAT GUY isn't going to kill anybody else. That's a pretty good deterent right there.

Yeup.

Rehabilitative models vs. retributive models.

The death penalty is a pretty clear remnant of the latter school. We don't give the death penalty to act as a deterrent, we give it to punish and provide retribution for the families/loved ones of the victims.

There's a reason that pleas for leniency from the victim's families are so persuasive with the courts in these instances. If the family doesn't want it, most prosecutors won't ask for it and most courts wouldn't grant it if they did.
