I do my Black Friday shopping in the middle of the day on Friday, usually at the mall. It's crowded for sure, but not near the level of insanity as the shit in the OP.

I took my mother in law to Walmart on Thursday night last year.

I really don't get how any of this works. Do people just walk in and sign up to buy whatever the great deal is? Seems like the store can just start tossing anything into the crowd and there is a crazy mob trying to all get one as if the person is handing out stacks of hundred dollar bills. Do I want a new blender just because they have some deal on it? I'm fine with my blender. Any blender, at any good price no matter how crazy the deal, is just less money that I have for other things. And it's not like that is exactly a great gift to give, either. My friends aren't looking to throw out their old blenders. Well, maybe they are but I have no idea whether or not that is the case.

Guess the big thing now for some of the big limited item deals is that are actually pretty good discounts on things like high end tvs or cameras, etc, is that there isn't a limit on how many different deals people at the front of the line can take advantage of.

They may be limited to 1 item for any specific deal, but they can call first dibs on and get reserved 1 of numerous sale items.

Turns out the super early people who are camping out to get like within the first 5 people in line are getting vouchers or their names on the list for these limited quantity deal items with zero real interest in the items for themselves.
They are then turning around and bartering off the item they have a reserved guaranteed slot for one of the sale items to people further back in line.

Depending on the item, they are making 50 to 250 bucks off hoarding all the door buster sale items by being in front.

Essentially able to get the 1 or 2 items they may actually want for themselves for free and maybe a grand or 2 in extra cash by auctioning off their reserved space for all the other sale items to the highest bidder...

That's the spirit of the holiday season- hoard and swindle your fellow man.

The last time I actually went into a store for Black Friday was years ago at ToysRUs. I was drunk and got talked into going with my sister by the g/f.

went out to walmart tonight. got a carriage full of stuff and was out in less than a half hour. Very organized. Spent about 400 bucks. got a few video games, 4 tablets, some tupperware, photo frames/collage frames, a game table (air hockey and shit) and it went very smoothly. I even helped a few people put the air hockey tables into their carts.

Some assholes were yelling at employees because they thought that everything had a one hour in stock guarantee but it didnt. Only certain things. but other than that it was a very fast and easy experience. The wal mart by me handles this better every year.
