I agree about him being a far drop off from Alex Smith and we're in trouble if he has to see any significant playing time. However, in his defense for the bad pick, it's hard to come in under those conditions and complete a "touch" pass like that. It was very cold, and so was he...Still he showed nothing the rest of the day. Of course he was mostly handing off so...I definitely want a better back up next season. Maybe Bray can win the job.

Salary Cap drain. I'd rather play Bray or another QB if we pick one in the upcoming draft to give them some live real game experience than Daniel, because he's not going to be winning any games for us, and if we are looking at a sunk cost it might as well be in evaluation of a possible future QB getting those reps.

I was honestly a bit perplexed by the fact that they decided to bring him in, and it wouldn't have been that big of a deal that they had except for the fact that his salary is way too high in comparison to his talent level. When we're already hovering around the max and going to need cap space, he is a handcuff in keeping, resigning our own players, as well as looking at FA we might like to bring in.
