Tamba Hali's two sacks in Sunday's Chiefs-Redskins game has earned him AFC defensive player of the week honors. It is the second time this year Tamba Hali has been awarded the AFC defensive player of the week award. The first one came after snagging 3.5 of the Chiefs 10 sacks against the Raiders earlier this year.

Tamba is sixth in the NFL in sacks with 11. The NFL leader is Robert Mathis with 15.5.

Tamba has had 10-plus sacks in a season three times now. He passed Art Still for third place on the Chiefs all-time sack list, trailing Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith.

This news is very nice to hear after the Chiefs played on Sunday without Justin Houston. The Chiefs pass rush was already falling off the past few weeks and I didn't expect it to get back on track without Houston. But Tamba put up a hell of an effort to snag two of the Chiefs six sacks.

Tyson Jackson also merited consideration for the award after he picked up two sacks last Sunday as well. Eric Berry (1) and Frank Zombo (1) rounded out the Chiefs sacks against the Redskins.

As for the future of the Chiefs pass rush, we await news on Justin Houston, who is now considered day to day with a subluxed elbow, according to Andy Reid. Houston was hurt in the Chiefs Week 12 game against the Chargers.

Meanwhile, the AFC special teams player of the week award for Week 14 will not be coming to Kansas City and Dexter McCluster. Broncos kicker Matt Prater won the award after breaking the NFL record for the longest field goal (64 yards).

Let Houston sit until at least the Colts game, preferably the Chargers game.

Houston is going on a fucking warpath when he gets back. Can't wait to see how scary that dude looks with a bionic arm brace in the mold of JJ Watt.

:)

Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater was with a stripper when he rear-ended a vehicle in the parking lot outside a hotel in Greenwood Village, Colo., earlier this month.

Prater has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and feeling the scene of an accident following the Aug. 2 incident. According to the Denver Post, Prater backed his Chevy TrailBlazer into a parked sedan outside the Hyatt Summerfield Suites.

Witnesses at the scene of the accident said the driver, Prater, fled into the lobby of the nearby hotel. When police arrived on the scene, they reportedly found a woman in the lobby who said she was a passenger in Prater’s vehicle. Arrest reports indicate the woman said she was with Matt P. and they had just left Shotgun Willie’s – where she is employed.

Prater tried to get a room for himself and the woman but the hotel was full. While the woman awaited a cab ride, police eventually found Prater at a nearby La Quinta Inn.

Prater told police he had not been drinking but he smelled of alcohol and failed sobriety tests.

"Our organization is disappointed with the poor judgment shown by Matt Prater on Aug. 2,” the Broncos said in a statement. “This matter, which was addressed with the team last week, continues to be thoroughly reviewed internally."

Wait. They gave the ST player of the week award to a guy with STD's who kicked a field goal at elevation, instead of a guy that gained more yards than Patton in 1944?

That injury is probably going to be a blessing.

I've mentioned several times in the last 4 games that this front 7 looks gassed.

Houston, with 3 or 4 weeks off, should come back refreshed and energized, and be a big boost to this defense, especially getting after the QB.

That coupled with the fact that Indys OL isn't good at all could lead to that ever elusive playoff win IN INDY.

What a sick bastard to feel an accident scene!

That's pretty much the definition of a bad day. You're drunk, you wreck your car, you get arrested, you pay a stripper for sex and don't get it, and you play for the Broncos.

And being stupid enough to pay for said sex before getting it

Too bad it ended up costing the Chiefs the division, though. I think the Chiefs beat the Chargers and Broncos with him in there.
