View Full Version : Chiefs If the Chiefs had traded for Josh Gordon

They would most likely be undefeated.

Coming off the best three game stretch for a receiver in NFL history. Leads the league in receiving yards despite missing two games and having three of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league.

This kid is special, and, at most, we could have had him for a first round pick in the late twenties.

You don't think a reliable, game-breaking receiver would have made a difference in either Denver game, where our receivers were dropping balls left and right?

You're right. Either they leaked the trade rumors themselves for shits and grins or multiple sports outlets made it up. That makes more sense than overly conservative GMs being afraid of a potential one year ban on his next offense.

UNDEFEATED ?

REALLY ?

1st loss @ Denver ? Nope, would not of won with him and our defense under performing.

2nd Loss vs SD ? Maybe, but the defense again under performed after the injuries.

3rd loss vs Denver ? Possible, but we will never know.

We would be a better team if we had Gordon. Kid is a flat out stud and I think Reid maximizes his talent. It'd be scary. We could actually outscore people in the playoffs... (which, if you have not noticed, is a requirement)

You're right. Either they leaked the trade rumors themselves for shits and grins or multiple sports outlets made it up. That makes more sense than overly conservative GMs being afraid of a potential one year ban on his next offense.

It's about context.

The rumors were probably leaked that the Browns were equally as fearful of Gordon's shit as the other league's GMs. After the Trent Richardson trade, a lot of news outlets were looking at the team with a "WTF are the Browns doing?" angle, and they came up with the tanking it explanation. While the Browns may have been into that a bit with the Richardson trade, and while no GM ever outright refuses an offer without seeing what's in it first, the necessary price the Browns would have had in mind for other teams to pay would have been way too freakin sky high.

There was no team willing to pay what the Browns were going to ask for, and that probably goes even for you as a Chiefs fan if you were evaluating the trade.

So basically, no. They WEREN'T going to trade Gordon.

The Richardson trade reaffirms that someone at the Browns facility knows what the fuck is going on.

Exactly. The ****ing guy was not available.

Everybody is available for the right price... the asking price must have been too high.

The guy has some serious skills and would help almost any team in the league, so if the asking price was too high for any team in the league, it must have been pretty high.

I mean, you have teams like the Raiders and The Washington Professional Football Franchise who will trade a 1st round pick for a stack of pancakes, and Cleveland still couldn't or didn't want to get him traded.

But... I know that around here, that means the Chiefs screwed the pooch.

Alex Smith hasn't been the reason we lost any of those 3 games, IMO.

Losing Houston and Hali killed us against SD. Alex played at a high level for a good portion of the game.

BossChief

Alex played the second Denver game at a very high level, too.

Go back and watch those drops of good passes. Alex could have had 450 passing that game and rep for beating Denver. It's no surprise that the passing offense took off once he was out with injury towards the end.

So what are we going to do with Donnie Avery? Ha ha oh wow... etc.

When was the last time we had a second receiver who didn't just disappear? At least Chris Chambers had a decent season before disappearing. Avery had one game.

I seriously wonder if he catches that pass in the first Denver game – if things don't go very different for us over the next three games. That and Sherman's fumble just killed us. My friends were like "Why are you being so negative? We're still in it". I knew we weren't after those things happened. Thanks Avery you puddle of puke. At least fumble was just bad luck.
