My favorite part he played was Alan Swann in My Favorite year.

Alan Swann (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000564/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): Alfredo, telephone the Stork Club, we'll be two for dinner.
Alfi (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0225112/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): You sure you want the Stork Club, Mr. Swann?
Alan Swann (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000564/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): It's been a year and a half. Surely they've repaired the wall of the bandstand by now.

[an obviously drunken Swann meets the writing staff]
Sy (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0534409/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): He's plastered!
Alan Swann (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000564/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): So are some of the finest erections in Europe.

[Alan Swann has blundered into the wrong restroom]
Lil (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0224723/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): This is for ladies only!
Alan Swann (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000564/?ref_=tt_trv_qu): [unzipping fly] So is *this*, ma'am, but every now and then I have to run a little water through it.

I went to IMDB and looked at his filmography. I have quite literally not watched anything he has ever appeared in other than as a voice actor in Ratatouille though I recognize his name.

He wasn't an actor. He was a movie star.

Aside from his incredible filmography, one of the things I remember most was him turning down the honorary Oscar when he was 70, saying he was still acting and could still win the award outright. He then asked them defer the honorary award until he was 80.

How do you know you're God?

Simple. When I pray to Him, I find I am talking to myself.

I went to see Lawrence of Arabia w/my grade school class at one of the big theaters in downtown KC when it was new, back in the 60's. Still one of my faves after all these years. "My name is for my friends. None of my friends is a murderer!”

R.I.P to my fellow countryman, a true national treasure. I actually chilled with his son Lawkin quite a bit when we were young.
