Starting from last year. He was benched and gets traded in the off season. He comes back and is leading the Chiefs to possibly the best turnaround in Sports History.

Comeback? He was starting QB for a superbowl team for most of the season and he was doing a decent job. He got hurt and his replacement happened to light it up and his coach decided to not pull a Schottenheimer.

Not much of a comeback.

Have you seen what Cassel has done for the Vikes when he got the chance? Cassel deserves it WAY more that A. Smith.

He was doing fine the previous two years and got a concussion. I don't see that as a basis for a come back.

If you look closely, that wheelchair guy technically did complete the loop.

I think by definition it means a player should have 'been somewhere' distinguishable previously in order to have gone away from it and then to comeback. No?

You are kidding right? I don't really see AS as a candidate for CPOY. But Cassel...no fucking way.

They had a story about that wheel chair dude on fox sports 1. It wasn't quite as funny as they had sad music and fadeouts and such in the edition, but I guess the end result is he lost the use of his hands and can't talk anymore, where as in that wheel chair he could atleast talk, now he needs assistance. He couldn't talk during the interview but through him blinking and making gargling noises he seemed regretful about the stunt.

Christ. Alex has had a couple of good games this second half of the season. The first half he was dreadful. I wouldn't count his season as anything special so far.
Now, if he leads this team through the playoffs with some victories when it matters, then sure.

and I hope he does..

Alex Smith has been playing at a fairly high level for 4 or 5 years now relative to the rest of his career, not necessarily the NFL as a whole.
