View Full Version : Chiefs Bring Jordy Home

Homer post for sure.

Now that that's out of the way: Jordy Nelson is the ****ing man and we should bring him home to play for his childhood favorite NFL team.

He has 1 year left on his contract and then becomes a FA in 2015. It would be so badass to see him come home and tear shit up at one of our greatest positions of need. Hell, if Maclin's knee still works, bring him too.

Dorsey and crew thought enough of JN to draft him in the second round, and the dude is in his prime. Next season will be his 7th year, and if we can somehow pry him away from Green Bay I would love to do so before they extend him.

Thoughts? What is his trade value worth? Or do we wait and see if he hits FA?

The best thing about catching a Saints game, . . . 'shit that Sproles is spry!!'

The one thing about the Packers is they do seem to be deep at WR. If they think they have the next Nelson already on their roster it makes sense to let him go get his money and keep the cheaper guy. They can't pay Jones, Nelson and Cobb all top dollar.

Report: Jordy Nelson’s looking for $10 million a year (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/24/report-jordy-nelsons-looking-for-10-million-a-year/)

Jordy Nelson is definitely a wide receiver.

And he wants to get paid like one of the best.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, a source familiar with the negotiations said Nelson wants a deal “worth at least $10 million per season.”

Nelson’s currently working on the final year of the three-year, $12.6 million deal he signed in 2011, and his $4.2 million per season average is 34th among all receivers.

And since he signed that deal early during the 2011 season, he’s averaged 67 catches, 1,107 yards and 10 touchdowns per season.

With Roddy White cashing in with the Falcons today, the bar was raised again for Nelson, who just turned 29 years old.

The Packers would like to keep Nelson and Randall Cobb (who is also up for free agency after this season), but they might find themselves in a spot where they can afford one or the other, but not both.

Would love to find a way to get him here (his home); not sure how the dollars would work with the Poe, Berry, Houston, Smith, and DJ deals all looming.

Dollars we could free up would be - Succup, Fasano, Hali... who else?

Cutting Fasano, Avery, Jenkins, DeVito, Mays, Smith, Tamba and Succop go nets us around $30M cap space in 2015.

I believe those are the savings once we cut them next year. Those are all of the "cap savings" from cuts in 2015. Cutting them this year would drastically reduce that number due to the increase in dead money hitting the cap.

Hey, in my defense, I thought they would have to make a choice between Cobb and Jordy. Cobb is younger and flashier.

I figured Jordy would see the open market.

He legitimately might. Dude is as Kansas as it gets.

Plus, our QB is very similar style-wise to his previous QB. What an incredible #3 he would be.

It'd let you kick Hill to the slot on 3 WR sets and give you a legit possession dude but I'm not sure it's doable.

If you cut his snaps down he might make it through a year.

I think Nelson is a guy who could contribute to a winning team. However it's going to be if he's willing to play about 50-60% of the snaps and not ask for a ton of money.

It makes no sense the Raiders releasing him. AB, Williams, and Jordy is a really fucking tough matchup, and IIRC his contract wasn't overly heavy. Gruden doing Gruden things though, lol.

I've always thought Jordy was an outstanding player and I think he still has gas in his tank. I wouldn't be against him coming here at all, I just don't know if we need him. He'd be deadly in this offense behind Hill, Watkins, and Kelce as the 4th option, though. Definitely an upgrade over Conley.

Jordy Nelson retires from NFL after 11 seasons (https://www.packers.com/news/jordy-nelson-retires-from-nfl-after-11-seasons)

GREEN BAY – Jordy Nelson, the Packers’ fifth all-time leading receiver, is retiring from the NFL after 11 seasons.

A second-round pick out of Kansas State in 2008, Nelson played in 136 regular-season games with 88 starts during his 10 seasons with Green Bay (2008-17). He ranks third in franchise history in receptions (550), fifth in receiving yards (7,848), second in touchdown receptions (69) and third in 100-yard receiving games (25).

“We want to congratulate Jordy on an incredible career that included achievements that will result in his eventual induction in the Packers Hall of Fame,” said Packers GM Brian Gutekunst. “He is one of the greatest receivers in franchise history and played a vital role in the team’s success with not only his play on the field but also for what he provided as a great teammate and leader. We wish the best to Jordy, his wife, Emily, and the rest of their family.”
