Kluwe is a social media whore, he's looking for people to pay attention to him. He said stupid shit like this when he was in the NFL and he's no different from today. Funny how the whole Phil Robertson thing blows up over all news outlets then Kluwe says he was punished because of his views. Why didn't this story come out before Phil Robertson? Because it needed something to give it legs, it's just like everyone jumping on the concussion bandwagon. If people see an opening they take it, forget working hard when you can just sue someone or make ridiculous accusations that even if they were true doesn't make a damn bit of difference in our society.

This and Phil Robertson are completely different.

PR expressed his views, and A&E expressed theirs, by suspending him. PR can still quit, A&E can still fire him. No rights are violated, and everyone is treated fairly under the law.

What Kluwe is alleging is harassment by an employer because of his opinions on a human rights issue. Whether its true or not, it IS a legal issue, because in America, discriminatory language by your employer is not allowed.

Again - this situation is completely different than Phil Robertson, who's rights were not violated.

Now that Kluwe realizes he currently has no means to support his family and no income he'll sue the NFL for concussions/hating gays/hostile work environment/making him feel sad, etc, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

He was 24th in gross average last season, 18th in net average, and 31st in number of punts inside the 20 (though in fairness he was tied for 2nd in touchbacks). Perhaps he should have spent less time writing essays and more time punting.

If there's one thing I hope to achieve from sharing this story, it's to make sure that Mike Priefer never holds a coaching position again in the NFL, and ideally never coaches at any level. (According to the Pioneer Press, he is "the only in-house candidate with a chance" at the head-coaching job.) It's inexcusable that someone would use his status as a teacher and a role model to proselytize on behalf of his own doctrine of intolerance, and I hope he never gets another opportunity to pass his example along to anyone else.

If you look at all the dui's, domestic assaults, rapists, and even killing of people done by people who are signed by NFL teams after said crimes a guy speaking out on a political issue wouldn't be watching this season if people thought he was better than what they had.

Minnesota Vikings special teams coordinator MIKE PRIEFER just emailed me this statement regarding former Vikings punter CHRIS KLUWE'S attack today:

"I vehemently deny today’s allegations made by Chris Kluwe.

I want to be clear that I do not tolerate discrimination of any type and am respectful of all individuals. I personally have gay family members who I love and support just as I do any family member.

The primary reason I entered coaching was to affect people in a positive way. As a coach, I have always created an accepting environment for my players, including Chris, and have looked to support them both on and off the field.

The comments today have not only attacked my character and insulted my professionalism, but they have also impacted my family. While my career focus is to be a great professional football coach, my number one priority has always been to be a protective husband and father to my wife and children.

No, I didn't see this paragraph either.

Or this one?

Near the end of November, several teammates and I were walking into a specialist meeting with Coach Priefer. We were laughing over one of the recent articles I had written supporting same-sex marriage rights, and one of my teammates made a joking remark about me leading the Pride parade. As we sat down in our chairs, Mike Priefer, in one of the meanest voices I can ever recall hearing, said: "We should round up all the gays, send them to an island, and then nuke it until it glows." The room grew intensely quiet, and none of the players said a word for the rest of the meeting. The atmosphere was decidedly tense. I had never had an interaction that hostile with any of my teammates on this issue—some didn't agree with me, but our conversations were always civil and respectful. Afterward, several told me that what Mike Priefer had said was "messed up."

I would say that goes farther than having a different opinion on same sex marriage.

Maybe I'm just overreacting.

And Kluwe has constantly put himself out there. This wasn't a leaked email, this was an open letter, placed out there by him. Accusing an organization of deliberately getting rid of him based on his views of same sex equality. He accuses the ST coach of saying some pretty terrible things, not saying he's lying, but in the end he's saying that Spielman AND Frazier were cowards and that they said if the SPECIAL TEAMS COACH, I highlighted it to show the insignificance of the ST coaches opinion about the views of the Punter, believed that he shouldn't be on the team because of said views, then they were fine with that. It's all a little too far fetched in my personal opinion.

Kluwe has no proof, it's one guys story, and I don't trust his story. If I had to put my thumb down on his Character, I'd say he's that guy who has burned some bridges in his time with the Vikings in more ways than one. Maybe he was a problem in the locker room, constantly caused problems by being so outspoken and accusing people of being something that they aren't. He's already shown that he's that guy that your word is never safe around him. If you say that you hate gays, and you think you're around the fellas and they know the way things go, well that's not the case. Call out the Special Teams coach, that's fine, but to outright call the Coach and GM cowards? None too smart, good luck getting a job in the future Chris Kluwe.

They are different but the message is the same and there will always be similarities. When the media digs in and makes mountains out of molehills out of things like the Phil Robertson bullshit you open it up for bottom feeders to come along and take advantage of a similar type of topic and get their 15 minutes of fame out of it. Kluwe is one of those individuals, at least that's how he's always come across to me. I don't agree with Phil Robertson, but he's a good person with his own viewpoints, Kluwe is just a douchebag.

Wrong.

Both employers have every right to reprimand the employees for outside of work related incidents.

Whether you are a bigot or an anti-bigot, your employer can fire your ass for ANYTHING not protected under federal law/state law or contractually. (Contract/union etc) Talking shit about ANYTHING in the media, is not a protected status by the feds.

A good person who advocates men marrying underage girls?

No, no I don't think he is a good person.

“So Phil Robertson says men should marry girls when they're 15 years old. Can anyone tell if this is a ‘joke,’ or ‘comedy?’...”

According to People magazine, Robertson shared the exact same sentiment in his book "Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander." In the book, he writes that the idea of a 20 year old marrying for money is a joke.

"Now, that's a joke, and a lot of people seem to laugh at it, but there is a certain amount of truth in it," he writes of his suggestion to marry a 15 year old.

Do you believe in equal rights for everyone?

I haven't read this thread. I have one question. Are the homophobes (all in the name of solid Christian thinking of course) making their positions clear?

They are making themselves clear.

1. People that say homophobic things should be defended because they are just using their free speech rights and it is wrong to criticize them.

2. People who speak out against homophobia should be fired and never work again. And be criticized.

What part of that post do I need to take my own advice? It's my advice, I know it well, it's how I live my life. I disagree with people on here, hence why we're not buddy's in real life. I'm not going to buy you a beer, no offense, but I'm not attacking anyone. If the worst thing you read out of this entire thread from me is that I tell you to avoid people you don't see eye to eye with and you'll have a better life for it, then .... it's logic, I don't really see the problem.

Kluwe is who he is, I'm not trying to tell him how to act, but as many chat boards in the past have taught us, it's all about questioning, judging, and saying what we would do if we were in his shoes. I question his paranoia about people firing him over his views of equality, seems far fetched to me. I'm judging his methods of issuing an open letter to anyone who'll give him the time of day to read it in hopes of slandering people further for firing him, seems like he's doing what alot of 15 year old girls do in high school and seems immature to me. AND if I were in his shoes I wouldn't drag the GM and Coach into the picture and slander them because you're not setting yourself up for any gigs anytime soon, it comes across as just plain stupid to me. This is the internet, he has his right to say whatever he wants to and I have the right to disagree with it, just as you guys have the right to disagree with what I say. That being said, when there is someone whose philosophy is to exclude rights to a group of people because they don't agree with their lifestyle, I feel that is wrong and I will say it. Just like you have the right to say your beliefs, Robertson had his, and I have mine. The silliness is that people think they can speak out against someone or a group of people and think that they have the right to say it but it shouldn't have repercussions.

but they are. And, I am a complete, realistic, and ultimately happy person...as such, I live in a state of mind that accepts things for what they are, and believe that those things are the way they are for a reason. And that things are the way they are supposed to be in the universe.

You're making a claim that simply isn't there. You're trying to claim that pedophilia somehow automatically infringes upon someone's rights. That's not true anymore than claiming that homosexuality automatically does so.

As for animals, they have no rights. They're animals.

It is not a garbage argument. Children and animals should NOT be able to consent. You are not free to live your lifestyle if you impose it on others that can't consent or are too young to say no to an authority figure.

Your freedom ends when it infringes on the rights or safety of others.

And none of this has anything to do with adult gay people consenting to have sex with one another.

If they don't teach sex and don't provide condoms many uninformed children will get pregnant. And then want an abortion. If you are anti-abortion you should be for condoms in school.

It is true.

I've said no such thing.

You said some children are capable of consenting.

Let me ask you a question. When an adult has sex with a child, who do you think should get to determine if that particular child is capable of giving consent, since you believe some are? Do you think it should be legal, if in your opinion the child was capable of consenting?

Where is this? In most places children legally are required to get consent from their parents or from a court to have an abortion. I seriously doubt this. It sounds like propaganda to me.

It's been going on for decades. Feel free to google it.

I've never claimed that I'm in favor of pedophilia being legalized. That's because I'm adamantly opposed to such a course of action. What I have done is use pedophila to demonstrate the hypocrisy inherent in someone's statement about tolerance.

Yes, I've fallen to common sense. Teens are going to have sex. If they are ignorant about and have no access to contraception some will get pregnant.

Are you aware that the teen pregnancy rate in the 1950s - the times most "traditional Christians" long for, was higher than it is today? It was just more hidden.

I'm intolerant of pedophilia and bestiality. I'm tolerant of homosexuality. These things are not inconsistent nor hypocritical.

and did you know the divorce rate among blacks in the 50's was lower than everyone else...and today? eight out of ten black children born out of wedlock?
dropout rate? incarceration rate? almost half the abortions from 13% of the population?

ya, that live and let live has done wonders.

Your position isn't common sense. It's silliness that can be easily flipped.

Teens who are given condoms are going to want to use them. That's going to mean some of them have sex when they would not have otherwise, which will mean some of them will get pregnant.

And there we have it.

Are you aware that the teen pregnancy rate in the 1950s - the times most "traditional Christians" long for, was higher than it is today? It was just more hidden.

This does not justify government interference.

You jumped into a discussion between myself and another person. That discussion was specific to a statement that person made.

Your stated claims of tolerance are meaningless with regards to that.

However, feel free to try explaining how your tolerance of the one without the others is not inconsistent or hypocritical, if you wish.

Ignoring bestiality for the moment, you make the assumption that there's a victim in all pedophilac relationships. What is the basis for such a claim, since it clearly cannot be consent?

Your way of not teaching children about sex, yes. That has nothing to do with God. Many, many Christians supporting teaching sex education.

Have you figured out that your argument is based upon nothing, and is just a roundabout way of avoiding actually having to think, yet?

No kids can consent because of law, but homosexuals should be allowed to marry despite law, so those laws must be changed.

LMAO

One last time. Adult homosexuals can consent and can have sex because it harms no one. Adults having sex with children harms the children. If you can't see this you are beyond hope.

Your freedom ends when it harms others.

Again, you keep making universal claims which are patently false. Tossing the personal barb at the end isn't going to somehow make them true.
