What a bunch of bullshit he said the team eased up against the Colts and the team played with a different purpose the 2nd half of the season.

Let up is right. The way the D-line looked in the second half, mirrored the way the D-lines play in a probowl!

That has to fall back on the coaches. It's their job to make sure these guys are focused and playing hard. It sounds like the coaches mentally checked out at half time too.

At some point scrutiny has to be put on the so called "stars" of the Chiefs defense… guys like Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali, Justin Houston, Poe, Berry, etc.

Chiefs defense with a lot of these same guys has been average/mediocre under two different DC's/defensive styles (Romeo and Sutton), and despite all the individual accolades and big money contracts, this defense collapsed in historic fashion today.

Getting rid of Kendrick Lewis, Dunta Robinson and Bob Sutton is the easy part.

But what about Berry missing multiple tackles today?

What about Poe being invisible the entire game?

What about Derrick Johnson missing tackles and having zero impact the entire game?

The Chiefs are supposed to be led by their defense. They spend a higher % of their salary cap on defense than all but one team in the NFL.

They aren't getting their money's worth.

Uh, when the WR's are wide open with some dreadlocked moron chasing them 5 yards back, why would the offense do anything toward our good players?

They raped Hali the entire game and never got a single holding call. What else is new though, it happens to him every game.

True, but on several of those plays Andrew Luck had either all day to throw or was able to get out of pressure from Chiefs defenders up front.

No. Most of them the ball was out immediately.

Dunta was giving Hilton a 20 yard cushion, and Lewis was out there trying to remember what the number 5 smells like. There was literally no reason for the Colts to do anything but find Lewis and Robinson and go there.

Losing Flowers and Houston just made it all the easier for them.

Bull, he was never even close to getting at luck. He wasn't speed rushing at all outside.

I saw at least 3 times they held him with no call and at least 2 or 3 times on Houston. I wonder if Hali's knee was bothering him and that's why he was so slow coming around the end.

Houston and Hali were frequently forcing Luck to scramble, and he was able to avoid their pressure because there was no push up the middle.

Did Poe disappear in this game?

But he played nearly twice as many snaps this season than the average among starting DTs/NTs, and nearly 100 more than the second player at the position, in spite of the rest in the last game.

That one game was rest was not nearly enough to overcome the fatigue he suffered from.
He simply had no gas left.

This.

The no huddle showed its effect on our defense in the late 3rd and 4th quarters. ALL of our defensive players were gassed.

Especially our d-line. They barely got lined up in time pre-snap, and many of their "rushes" were half-assed.

That's not "easing up"...that's being gassed.

Peyton Manning gave the rest of the league the blueprint for how to beat this defense.

Get the ball out of your hand before the rush has a chance to get to you.

Then you can't blitz. There's no point! You'll never get there in less than 2.5 seconds anyway, and all you're doing is leaving the shallow middle of the field (where it's easiest to complete 2.5 second throws) wide open. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of thing.

Anyway, the rest of the league just followed the blueprint, and the defense went from other world amazing to completely inept. The Colts made a few mistakes and probably had some nerves in the first half. But after the break, they came back and went right back to what they knew would work. And with 2 of our starting defensive backs on the sidelines, it was game over. That's that.

My nephew plays basketball with Dunta Robinsons son. Dontas son Aden apparently let it slip that dunta was planning on retiring after this season anyway...can't help but wonder how hard he played knowing that he was planning on hanging them up as soon as the season ended. Dunta is a nice guy btw. Too bad it didn't work out.

Reid thought they had the game won, and they pulled back the reigns to rest up for next week.

Well, they will have plenty of energy while sitting at home watching the playoffs.

There ya go, somebody that understands what is going on!

I have said the same thing, all I hear is blitz, blitz, blitz ..... Freaking stop being predictable by all blitzing or not blitzing at all. Freaking mix it up, keep 8 back, send the delay blitz more, keep the LB's home more to stop the short dink and dunk.

As much as we are too predictable on offense, we are the same on defense with guys who do not tackle well and can not cover man to man on the deep routes, pick plays and crossing routes.

This is on the HC & DC !
