Last night we were talking at the party about our days of playing sports, most of the guys there made it as far as high school although we did have one collegiate athlete there.

Anyhow after the game there were numerous topics flying around and yes even the topic of how in the **** can a pro team blow a 28 point lead without something being shady.

So from that came the question and I ask it to all of you who played sports as well,"What was the biggest deficit a team you were on ever overcame and or worse yet were you on the losing end of after a large lead?"

We had the league title lock away when are running back fumble at the one yard line. The other team took it all the way for a Touchdown.

I don't remember it really well but we had a pretty shitty team and somehow wound up overachieving and making the postseason. First and only opponent that we played was some rich kid school that had astro turf and a McDonalds at their sports bar. They had guys that were committing to schools like College Park and USC. We had kids that couldn't even commit to affording a decent pair of cleats. Needless to say, we got thrown around like a porno in an all boys school bus- something along the lines of 60+ points. We did score one touchdown though, which we only got because of a fake field goal attempt.

High school hockey: we were down 5-0 in the 1st period of a tournament game. Came back during 2nd and 3rd periods and eventually won 6-5.

High school basketball, down by 20 at half. Ended up winning by 25.

Another game we scored 9 points in 10 seconds.

My little league baseball team was down 1 to nothing and we came storming back to win it 3 to 2. :D

The only shady thing about yesterday was the Chief's defense.

Individual games, I don't recall but we did lose the first game of a softball tournament (only had 10 players and a guy got ejected so we had to forfeit) on a Friday night. Played another game Friday, NINE on Saturday, and seven (with NO break between games) on Sunday to come back and win it.

Including myself we had at least 10 guys in the discussion that had played sports and none of us could remember anything like what we witnessed yesterday but we all had memories like yours,if it was close it was close but if we were getting our asses handed to us it just wasn't our day.

I only know of one other time when something like yesterday happened, it just doesn't happen. We all saw it, that Bills, Oilers playoff game.

Like most fans that have been following this team for a long time, I didn't feel comfortable with the 28 point lead, and started getting that sick feeling when we quit scoring in the second half..

Down 28-0 in a high school basketball game to Tarkio (Mo). Came all the way back middle of the fourth only to lose it by 5. We had a lot of guys foul out.

I grew up in Louisville KY and went to Southern High with Phil Simms coming along as QB (I was a Senior and he was a Junior). We were beating Thomas Jefferson HS (something like) 24-0 and they came back to make up the deficit in the 4th Quarter. we still won by three, but were still shocked to see that bunch of scrubs come back on us.

What happened yesterday was absolutely embarrassing, beyond belief. In my opinion, someone in the organization owes Chiefs fans an explanation. Anyone who has EVER played a down of football could see what was happening, yet the HC and the DC apparently were unable to adjust.

What happened to the Chiefs vs Chargers (no calls) was beyond explanation and what happened today (Chargers Vs Bengals) defies logic - yet there you go.

Frankly, (in the case of last week), if one didn't know better, it would have appeared the "powers that be" were determined to put the Chargers in the playoffs come hell or high water. True or not? No idea, but sure seemed "phony" to me.

Yesterdays game reminded me of the same situation. A DC who absolutely REFUSES to stop one receiver and watches as he goes off on the Chiefs. This man is "supposedly" a "top-notch" DC, but can't adapt?

I have lived in KC since 1979. I have followed the Chiefs (and the NFL) since the 60s. Games like these happen. But damn....Strange days. Strange days, indeed.

Had a baseball game go into the 10th inning tied up 1-1. The opposing team killed our relievers and went up 1-9. Our first two hitters popped up for the first two outs. I thought we were done and started packing my catchers gear. We then scored 9 runs (with two outs) off of singles and doubles. We didn't hit any home runs or triples! The ball just kept finding holes between players. 10-9 final.

My Senior season of sports saw both sides of the pain....

In football we had only won 1 game till the last game of the season...we were playing the other team in the league who had only 1 win. We played to a 3-0 lead at halftime. When we came out at halftime it was like they were a whole different team...we lost 28-3.

In Basketball we were losing by 19 at halftime and our best scorer was saddled with 3 fouls and a cold streak shooting that was unbelievable. He was being double and triple teamed and it completely had him off. At halftime the Coach told me and the other guard to spend the first few minutes putting up shots hoping we would hit a couple and maybe they would have to play honest. The 2 of us together put up 41 points in the second half and that was in the era before 3 pointers. We won by 5 points.

In baseball we were playing our biggest rival with our best starting pitcher for the first round in our District. They lit him up for 9 runs in the first and 2 runs in the second. By the bottom of the fifth the lead had grown to 12 and we were 3 outs from elimination. Our coach....not very happy at the time, took his place in the 3rd base coaches box. When the leadoff guy came to bat and looked to him for a sign, the coach yelled "what you looking for? just hit the ball". The first pitch he parked over the left center field fence. The next guy up got hit by a pitch...and then it was my turn at bat. I parked the first pitch over the right field fence. The next 2 guys up walked.....and what proceeded after that was 6 straight hits, another walk and my triple before they got their first out. When the inning ended the score was 15-12 we were in the lead. We scored 2 more runs by the end of the game and won 17-12.

In ninth grade gym, I was in a 1 on 6 situation in a game of bombardment and won it. I couldn't throw very well, but I could catch very well, so I managed to trap all the balls on my side and I would roll them one and wait to catch it. A guy would throw it, I would catch it to put him out, and then roll the ball back to the next one. It was actually pretty funny that they kept throwing, but I think they viewed it as a challenge to their manhood. It was my finest athletic achievement in front of a crowd, the crowd being the rest of the gym class.

My senior year in highschool, our 2nd JV pitcher (a kid who had never played a baseball game in his life before that year) had to start a varsity game against a very good hitting team. We were down 17-0 when we finally got to the bottom of the first.

We scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first. I hit an RBI double and an RBI triple in the first inning. We ended up winning the game 21-20.
