Any interest in this one?
I'm hoping this is a defensive battle with the Panthers coming out on top, but the 49ers will likely win.

Yeah he's really old especially for a WR (34 years old), it's remarkable how he can still play at a real high level.

I'm wondering too. Wouldn't you be seeing a ton of pass rushers jump the snap in an effort to get a perfectly timed rush?
I mean, that's what I would do if I were a defensive coordinator.

Because there's almost nothing to stop defenses from just jumping the snap each down in case they do get one perfectly timed.

Half the distance to the goal in a goal-to-go situation is pretty significant, in my opinion. At that point on the field, a foot makes all the difference..
TheUte

Yes becase you could just do that every fucking time and just try get lucky.
And he made contact with another player before the ball was snapped.
Just seems like a weird situation for it not to be a first down there.

Jumping and hitting the QB should be an automatic 1st down. Like SNR said....what's to stop defenses from doing that if there is no reprocutions. Leave it at 5 yards but an automatic 1st down.

Yeah. It'd be bad football etiquette though. Harbaugh would be hated by coaches, cheap shots, etc.
Those goal line scenarios are interesting though. Sometimes there are situations where the defense should hold/commit pi on every play until the clock is zero and therefore only having to make one legitimate stop

Again, that's fine, but you guys are calling for a major rule change in a league that already has about 5x more rules than it needs.
