While guys like Derrick Johnson wait for their first playoff victory, Glenn Dorsey has enjoyed the thrill of a playoff victory and is one game away from the Super Bowl.

Jared Allen, Kawika Mitchell, Lawrence Tines, Scott Fujita, Donnie Edwards, Rich Gannon and how many other countless x Chiefs players went on to experience playoff wins and Super Bowls in other teams uniforms? There has to be dozens.

KC appears to be the place to go if you want later success after you leave.

Once our defensive scheme changed, he really wasn't a fit here. He has no good fit in a 3-4. He is where he belongs. I wish him well.

Sucks we ended up wasting a top 5 pick on him though

Same here. Nothing wrong with Dorsey. Glad he was able to find a place on a successful team where he can contibute. He seems like a good guy.

Unfortunately we can say that about several other Chief defensive line draft picks...

This is deserving of a thread in itself. I've been pondering why DJ was uncharacteristically invisible in the biggest game of the season.

Scheme?

Injured?

They took DJ out of the game by passing on nearly every down. DJ was dropped back in pass coverage 90% of the game.

I thought they ran a hybrid defense and he played when they were in the 4-3. Oh well, he wasn't anything special as 3-4 DE here and Poe is a much better nose tackle

A friend of mine owns a carwash in Independence and I used to see Dorsey up there at least once a week. He was always a nice guy but his problem and you could tell by looking at him was his laziness. He was always over weight coming into camp and he never put the time of effort in to make himself a better player.

My buddy told me that they used to find multiple, empty McDonalds and Burger King bags in the backseat when they would clean out his car. I think once he got to the NFL and received all of that money he thought he could skate and I'm sure he found out that it doesn't work that way. He looks like a much better player now than he was for us.

Ummm....what? The COLTS took him out of the game. It's pretty easy to take someone out of the game if they're back in coverage for most of it. All you have to do is throw away from the player.

He is a good one gap lineman in ANY system. He would have fit fine in our current system, he is not a 2 gap player which is why he sucked for Crennel.

He's got better defensive pieces around him in SF and with their depth, they have a nice rotation going, which helps him a ton. It is a good situation to be in.

Our defensive depth and talent is no where close to SF's level...

the Chiefs have the 2nd most money invested on defense in the entire NFL and probably the most high draft picks invested as well

and SF is still better. That's how sad that is in persepctive

Yes, and San Francisco is 14th, according to this (http://www.theguardian.com/sport/interactive/2013/nfl-salaries-positions-2013-2014#san-francisco-49ers,kansas-city-chiefs).

Which is crazy when you look at their depth chart. SF has made some really savvy draft choices and FA signings.

LDT Ray McDonald - 3rd rounder, 2007
NT Glenn Dorsey - 1st rounder (#5), 2008; Signed FA 2013
RDT Justin Smith - 1st rounder (#4), 2001; Signed FA 2008
OLB Ahmad Brooks - 3rd rounder, 2006; Signed off waivers 2008
ILB NaVorro Bowman - 3rd rounder, 2010
ILB Patrick Willis - 1st rounder (#11), 2007
OLB Aldon Smith - 1st rounder (#7), 2011
LCB Carlos Rogers - 1st rounder (#9), 2005; Signed FA 2011
RCB Tarell Brown - 5th rounder, 2007
FS Eric Reid - 1st rounder (#13), 2013
SS Donte Whitner - 1st rounder (#8), 2006; Signed FA 2011

That's seven 1st round picks on D, three 3rds, and one 5th. 2007 was a good draft. And five of those guys were signed after starting with another team, so real good job by them finding guys who fit their D.

You look at our D, Tamba is getting paid 2x more this year than Brooks and Aldon Smith combined, $15 mil vs $7 mil. Their combined safeties cost them $6.5 mil, while Berry costs us $10.5 mil. Their DE's combined cost them $6 mil, while Tyson Jackson costs us $7 mil. Our corners and nose tackles are basically paid the same. So that's why we're over-spending on D. Hali, Berry, and Jackson...

Sutton was gonna use him as an end, too. Wasnt he?

I remember saying over and over how Dorsey should be a 1 gap NT ever since Herm was fired and we were gonna run a 3-4 but couldn't get Romeo and were stuck with Clancy.

I remember you saying (right before he signed in SF) that we had a similar offer on the table for him, but that he wasnt gonna play the nose...he would be an end again.

Let me just say this...

Jackson/Bailey LDE
Dorsey 1gap NT
Poe RDE

Would be a fantastic DL that could stop the run and rush the passer.
