According to a report in Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Daily, the Cowboys are one of 10 NFL teams that have seen declines for local TV ratings for regular-season games over consecutive seasons.

Dallas' local market average rating has declined from 32.8 in 2011 to 29.4 in 2012 to 28.9 in 2013. That's a decline of 12 percent over a two-year period, which is seventh-worst among NFL teams over a two-year span.

Even with the decline, the Cowboys still rank among the top half of the league (15th) in average local market rating. The other teams to experience consecutive declines are the Giants, Jets, Falcons, Rams, Packers, Steelers, Patriots, Ravens and Jaguars.

The New Orleans Saints led all teams with a 52.0 local rating in New Orleans, up 14% from 2012. Kansas City, which went from two wins in 2012 to making the playoffs in 2013, saw the biggest local jump with an increase of 41 percent. Atlanta had the biggest falloff from 2012 to 2013, 22 percent. Oakland had the lowest local rating for at least the third straight season.

Of the top 10 teams, eight were playoff teams, and the two that missed the playoffs went into the season's final week with a chance to reach the post-season

Just for your insolence, the Cowboys will get 3 SNF games, three Monday nighters and an extra Thursday game besides Thanksgiving.

And you. Will. Like. It.

David Glass wants you to just fuck off! He says there's just NO WAY that's true! I mean how can you tie a team's success, or lack thereof, to people watching the product on TV? Preposterous, just preposterous!

What's next, are folks going to tie revenue generation to things like winning?

Pffffffffffft!

Oh, and :D

Dallas doesn't support their sports teams unless they are winning. Biggest bunch of fair weather cocksuckers ever.

Like New York, L.A., Miami, and any other cities that truly offer their residents a multitude of options if their team sucks? You offer "warm beach" opportunities to the mix and yeah, the team has to be a winner to keep people's focus.

And I don't think that means their not fans, they're just not rabid fans. They can wait for the news and/or paper to find out what happened.

So "other options" can be a franchises' (cheap-asses or otherwise) worst enemy!

I know, I just went back and corrected some of it. Sometimes it's better to just drink when you post, it gives you an excuse!

I'm going to blame global warming, assault rifles and eating healthy!

You know what? You've earned yourselves another Cowboys game on national TV.

Well, I live in Lee's Summit, and if I sit on my roof I think I could see Jerry's jumbo screen if not for the roof on Jerryville. Stupid roof!

Absolutely. Winning is appreciated but entirely optional (as well as surprising).
