Hey you fellow degenerate car nuts.

The annual Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ is today at 2 - 11 pm.

2-4PM - FOX Channel

4-11PM - National Geographic Channel?

I guess Fox Sports 1 is busy with live Supercross coverage.

Some nice sheet metal up for sale.

The Snake & Mongoose Hot Wheels funny cars with their haulers
Batmobile in 1989 Michael Keaton Batman movies (If you remember they auctioned off the original 1966 Barris Batmobile last year for 4.2 mil)
Ferrari F-1 race car
Simon Cowell's Bugatti Veyron

etc. etc. etc.

Why did Simon get rid of his Veyron?

Just a matter of peak value?

I can see it from an economic standpoint, though I abhor it from an engineering standpoint.

Story of my family's life. My dad stood in the lot of a 1969 Chevy dealership and had the unfettered choice of the baddest-assed Nova and the baddest-assed Camaro and he took the Nova.

We have a 1969 Nova SS with an LT1 engine with perfect numbers, I'm talking down to the sticker on the window, I'm talking 2.02 humps on the fucking HEADERS here, in my dad's garage. But could you imagine a 1969 Camaro with those ##s??

I love Nova's.

That should bring a nice price too.

A Nova might even be more rarer than the Camaro.

1 mil was bid on the Snake but it didn't meet the reserve. Not sure if the Snake & Mongoose were sold as one package or separate.

As of now still not sold. Wonder what the damn reserve was for that piece of history.

When I was growing up the biggest names in drag racing were:

Big Daddy Don Garlits
The Snake Don Prudhomme
The Mongoose Tom McEwen
Candies & Hughes
Sox & Martin

The Veyron might be losing a bit of its appeal with the new round of hypercars from Porsche, Ferrari, Pagani and McLaren. Still very ridiculous but not as mind blowing when it was first released.

Big Daddy Garlits did lose part of his right foot in 1970. The transmission blew apart and the flywheel took off part of his foot. That's what made him pioneer the rear engine dragster. I remember the days when Glidden was always battling Lee Shepard in pro stock. Too bad Lee was killed in accident so early in his career. He had the makings of a legend. Guy was deadly cutting the tree.

Hey Dayze are maybe thinking of Eddie Hill in his all yellow dragster?

The biggest complaint about the Bugatti Veyron it is not a good-looking supercar. Not like a Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini. As an engineering achievement, the Veyron is impressive.

Here is Supercars.net “Top 10 List” from Barrett-Jackson Auction today:

1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider by Scaglietti - Sold for $8,800,000

1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Supercharged Gran Sport Spider 10814356 - Sold for $3,080,000
1956 Ferrari 410 Superamerica Series I Coupe 0475SA - Sold for $3,300,000

Supercars. Net features a great forum for supercar owners including some of the well-known reviewers and test drivers. The members that I follow are quite interesting. Although, many reside in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia - They meet up at all the top car events, such as Geneva, Dubai and Monaco.

According to their posts, they think nothing of dropping a few million on their supercars – Honestly, I would love to ask, "What do you do for a living?" :D
