It seems like you'd either make it a volunteer gig, which would have no shortage of applicants, or you'd pay enough to avoid trouble.

I suspect that they pay them for their time on the field, and the other appearances are assumed to be voluntary.

I recall hearing something a while back that NFL cheerleaders basically get paid nothing. Quick google leads to something like $500-1000 for 8 games.

Y'know, that's really a good idea. Lap dances with the fans would help the cheerleaders, enhance the fan experience, and the NFL could get a cut.
