Came across this...

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2014/2/25/5446556/catapano-will-play-at-290-lbs-in-2014

:D sounds good to me. With Jackson likely leaving and Cat and Bailey being our "small" lineman at 290 lbs. and 295 lbs. (both athletic and jacked with very low body fat) to play along side powerhouses Dontari Poe and Mike Devito (340 lbs and 315 lbs) thats 4 STOUT lineman to go with the other guys we have and/or add thru FA or Draft. I like it. One of our stronger areas on the team.

He has the frame for it. And his arms are about 34 inches, so I think this is a great move.

Kid is def a beast with a frame to fill out. I see him and Bailey possibly competing for other DE spot or maybe even smarter to leave Bailey in as every down DE and use Cat as a situational pass rusher/ 3rd down specialist. Good front 4

Catapano Will Play At 290 lbs. in 2014

I saw rumors of Chiefs DE Mike Catapano playing OLB in 2014 and wanted to set record straight. Mike will play on the line as a 290 lbs. pass rushing monster this season, not OLB. Catapano was drafted as an OLB but switched to the line early last season and that is where he will stay. The comments about him being undersized are also inaccurate. He is currently hovering around 290 lbs. and that is where he plans to keep his weight at for next season.

Cat was drafted as a 270 lbs OLB but has since stopped dieting and has let his body comeback to a natural weight of about 285-290 lbs where he played at as a Junior in college. Although he feels it would be possible to gain weight and play in the 300 lbs range Mike feels having the same speed and explosion he had at 270 lbs. is important for pass rushing. He feels he still has that now walking around at lean 285-290 and doesn't want to gain unnecessary pounds that won't help make him more athletic. He feels good where he is at now and feels that this will be a perfect playing weight for him. Look for big things from Big Cat in 2014.

Good, that's where I would want him. No need to spend big on a FA starter or draft high on a 5-tech. Catapano gets plenty push and plays with a high motor.

this would require our DC to actually rotate the lineman next season, lets see if he does it (he probably wont)

I'd just like to say that I watched a lot of tape of Princeton DT Caraun Reid this week, including three games from 2012, when he was teammates with Catapano.

Watching Catapano overpower tackles off the edge was, by far, my favorite part of the tape.

Does this mean they draft WR in rd 1. Lee ODB Cook. DB or OLB in the 3rd

Probably looking at:

WR, DB, OLB, and OL in the top 4 picks for us.

I hope he lives up to his potential he seems to be putting in the work and showed some flashes last year. Didn't he have 9 pressures in limited action across 3 games?

Ya he didn't play much but whenever he was in there he did well. Def seems to be putting work in. Saw this on instagram, might be from last year since reference is made to him being a linebacker. But damn strong! Handles over 600 pounds like its a toy. We have some strong guys on defense. Poe and Devito are rumored to bench 500 for reps. And Houston cleaned 400 in college

Damn, if he can get up under an OT he should be able to flip him up into the stratosphere...LMAO

yep...I completely agree. Caraun Reid had 2 sacks in Senior Bowl and with likely be drafted in 3rd or 4th round and all but if you compare his playing and his stats with Catapano from their last season together its very clear who the more dominant player is. Theres a bunch of interesting little videos on net of Catapano from college. Here is a youtube video of an NBC broadcast of him and Reid playing together where they had 5 sacks and beat a team 19-0. Funny the reporter standing next to them at the end looks like a peanut LMAO

I has to go back and look to make sure I didnt post wrong youtube video lol. Thought maybe I n posted a music one or something. Thats a cool look back video if either him or Reid go on to do well in NFL. I was reading Reid worked with Chuck Smith for Senior Bowl prep (same guy Cat worked with before exploding his senior year). Didnt have Cats kind of production during season but based on senior bowl performance looks like he could do ok on next level

Look, the current regime drafted this guy. If they think he can start, or split time with Bailey, that's what will happen. All I know is he got major push against San Diego throughout the week 17 game. I think he is the guy. Draft/sign WR/FS/OL

It's normal for people get concerned over somebody nobody ever heard of who played for a small school....but cmon, its the 7th round and he has talent...12 sacks his senior year. How good Catapano will be only time will tell. Prob part of the reason they moved him to d line was Jackson's pending free agency. Hopefully now we get to see what hes got. I don't think Jackson will be much of a loss. Bailey has shown he is very good against the run and Cat as a situational pass rusher should make some noise this year

His offsides call against Indy in the playoffs benched him, IIRC.

@ San Diego should've perked Suttons ears up about the hidden talent on this roster, the man is totally AFRAID to take chances on his backups.

Really? That's too complicated for you?

Catapano had very few chances to show his worth, precious few... mostly early and late in the year... but you want to take that extremely small sampling and somehow say he didn't do enough?

You're not only arguing against hope, but against fact... more than likely Jackson is gone which leaves Cat in reserve, he may actually end up being a bit more of a liability against the run, but will more than make uo for it against the pass.

Nothing complicated here, just good old fashioned football.
