First, that's mildly good news.

Then again, knowing Mitch, he's getting all excited about us signing Daryn Colledge.

If Mitch says it's gonna be a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10, you should plan on about a 6.

You're exactly right. This is the most let down I've been since '04 coming off soooooo much promise last season provided. This is all the proof I needed to see that no matter how much things change, they remain the same. Everyone wants top of the roster guys, when those guys are already in the roster (being paid a lot) and need to perform like it.

They're also banking on some you guys becoming upper roster guys. Not a choice I'd make, but we shall see

Here's the thing.

We can get a #1 TE and WR in the draft, almost certainly.

If we don't pick up any more offensive linemen, we'll almost be forced to use one of those picks on a lineman.

Our immediate need, RIGHT NOW, given what is available in free agency, is to get a starting RG.

Oline is not even in the top 5 of what we need.

It is now only because we lost 3 of them.

That said,

FS are available in FA and draft
WR in FA and the draft (prefer draft)
TE we have, he was just hurt last season.
Agree about the pass rush, but I don't see any major moves to fix it.

Really? Oline is a huge need
OT - Stephenson, Fisher (was going to be this all along)
OG - Allen,???? (have 2 or 3 guys competing for this spot)
C - Hudson or Kush

Hudson and Kush are going to compete at center ... the loser probably competes for right guard. Rinshaw Johnson will compete for guard. A middle round draftee will compete for depth somewhere.

The loss of schwarts hurts, loss of depth hurts but it's hardly huge.

I'd welcome that!... No he didn't have a good year BUT neither did any of the Ravens O-line. THAT tells me something. Plus, they kept flip-flopping him between LT & RT due to inconsistencies at LT. Sometimes they'd even make the switch during a game. It was a messed up situation as a whole.

That's his job, he is the balance to everyone here hanging themselves from their rafters. I also think it sounds as if he's talking about Micheal Oher. Mich's typical audience isn't going to know most offensive linemen, so if he's saying it's a big name (that his audience will recognize), then it it's most likely someone featured in a recent Hollywood movie starring Sandra Bullock.

As for Oher, it's possible. No one in Balt ever thought to stick him inside at OG. I'll bet our FO looks at his physical tools and thinks that he could be a destroyer of worlds at OG and still be a good player to kick out to OT if Fish or Stephenson go down. He was here before Pioli.

De la Puente was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs on August 31, 2008. He was inactive for the team's first seven games before being released on October 29. The Chiefs re-signed him to the practice squad the following day.
De la Puente was re-signed to a future contract by the Chiefs on December 30, 2008. He was waived on August 24, 2009 when the team acquired offensive linemen Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe from the Miami Dolphins.

We've been led to believe that because the Chiefs never take part in free agency. As long as you don't make stupid decisions and over indulge then free agency can be a valuable tool to add talent.

Rotoworld update on Oher....I guess it's not him then??

Who else does that leave? Brian Waters signing a 1-day contract before he retires?

------------------------------------------------------

Free agent RT Michael Oher is visiting the Titans.

It's Oher's first known action of free agency. The former No. 23 overall pick of the 2009 draft is a classic case of a player whose name is bigger than his game. Oher can't play left tackle and even struggles on the right side. He's also a penalty machine. The Titans would be better off with Byron Stingily at right tackle. If Oher leaves his Tennessee visit, he'll then take a trip to Oakland.

My problem with Oher is that he's always been deficient in the mental aspect of the game. That was his really big downfall and the reason why he still plays like a rookie. It's like the game moves too fast for him to keep up at times and it screws up his mechanics. Other times, he's burying his assignment into the dirt, but far too often he reaches, oversets, has poor hand placement, plays too narrow, etc and he gets beat badly by average pass rushers.

Yeah I hear ya. It's all about the right price. Seems to be a good staff so with certain guys and a decent contract it would be worth the risk to see if KC could coach him up. Lot's of guys fit that scenario at all sorts of positions but its a matter of what other offers are out there.

Ebben Britton from the bears was with Andy Heck with the jags. I think he's had a bad back since his rookie year but otherwise falls in the same category.
