The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread.

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

My votes:

#1 - Napoleon Dynamite. This one should be a dark horse to win it all. I wish the scene went on another two seconds so we could see Uncle Rico limping, but it's still fantastic. I like to imagine the story of the people who sold Rico the time machine. That's a movie in itself.

#2 - Reservoir Dogs. It's a good scene, but we've had threads that essentially contain the same dialogue. We just don't look as snappy.

#3 - Lion King. That song doesn't do much for me.

Reservoir Dogs because I like the dialogue, which is pretty much any Tarantino movie for me.

Okay, you people are scaring me. The time machine scene is a top-five scene in the whole tournament. It should be winning going away.

What's with the guy taking a quick look at a pile of dollars and immediately knowing it's a buck short...and then, after collecting the dollar, doing a thorough count of the money to ensure the correct amount is there?

Napoleon is a top 3 comedy for me, its right there with Dumb & Dumber and Step Brothers.

I can watch them over and over.

Note that someone tricked him into applying an electrical current to his testicles. If that's not funny, I don't know what is.

It was actually Kip who ordered the machine, not Rico.

Well, Kip says "WE, bought it online." So, I assume the purchase was a joint effort. Make no mistake though, it was purchased with the intent of taking Uncle Rico back to his playing days.

Yeah, I was thinking it was Rico's doing, especially when you see that it was set to 1982 when Napoleon first started messing with it. I think Kip was just Rico's internet shopping expert.

Oh, and I'm watching it again and Kip specifically says it belongs to Uncle Rico. I think he also says, "he bought it online" and not "we bought it online". It's fuzzy, though.
