Sitting with some peeps, there is talk of a spontaneous trip to Rocky Point today our tomorrow. I haven't been in a year, hear it's a little more cartel dangerous these days.
Anyone been lately or have some scoop?

Lived in PHX from 2009 to 2012. Went in 2012 and it was sketchy as ****. Haven't been back since. Heard a few horror stories though.

Thanks.
Yeah I like the sketchy part. Even been tossed in jail for an hour for running an imaginary stop sign til I could pay the captain the appropriate "fine".
It's the cartel presence I worry about. Those guys don't play.
Still, the allure of the sea and the charms of Mexico are strong...

My recommendation is to have the best fun you can without getting dead.

Why Not?

I never go there. San Diego or Vegas every time.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago. No worries. Just don't let anyone talk you into carrying an extra bag for them coming back. Cartels aren't running around ****ing with people. They are running a business. Don't get involved in the business.

Really, it's on par with Havasu, within the 'touristy areas". Wouldn't want to venture too far out into the desert. Might see some shit.

Didn't need a passport (drove) but I would recommend one.

Whole lotta spring break going on when I was there. I've never felt so old in my life. Wanted to the get the **** out of there.

Thanks! Glad you had a good time. I've been there probably 50 times over the years but not lately. We all got too hammered to drive anywhere, voted to sit out at the Phoenician for the weekend instead...

The Federali checkpoint coming into town was the only difference I noticed from last year. Inlaws have been down since Jan and said everything is same as it always is.

Good to hear. I'm half tempted to fly even though I really like the drive...

You got it. Hell, you can have it anyway. I've never used it...
