I'm always on the lookout for a great smelling cologne. I have tried many, from classics such as Polo and Obsession and Fahrenheit, all of which I liked. As I got older in my early 20's, I like stuff like Polo Sport, Tommy Hilfiger Athletic, and Hugo Boss. Lately, the last 10 years or so, I have switched and I really like Issey Miyake, and Jean Paul Gautier. My question is, what are your favorite colognes, ones that make the ladies heads turn in your direction. Success stories are also nice, ones in which your cologne of choice landed you a prime piece. Trying to find some new colognes, change my game up a bit.

My dad gave me some Platinum Chanel like 5 years ago that I still have and use on very rare occasions. I like the smell but tend to gravitate more toward the sweeter fragrances. Plus I don't think it really mixes well with my skin.

...That really is something that people underrate. If you're a true colognessieur you've got to learn what scents mix with your natural smell. When you hit the right combo, you smell like the truth.

I don't wear cologne enough to know what is good and what isn't. I have some shit my wife got me from Eddie Bauer about 5 years ago that smells good, and I have some old Polo, but I might put it one twice a year. I don't stink, so I don't use cologne much

If you're serious.

Creed: Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Vetiver, Aventus, and Santal are all quality fragrances. Tremendous sillage and very high quality stuff. Those are just some starters, they have dozens more. I also like Himalaya. Wonderful, woody fragrance.

Next tier down would be Tom Ford's line of fragrances.

If you want something custom and pretty unique I recommend DS & Durga but their stuff is hard to find in stock. It's all small batch and limited distribution. But fun. I am currently using Free Trapper.

Typical Macy's stuff. Issy Miyake has a decent line. His "Sport" features cedar notes very prominently. The other of his popular scent (can't recall by name now) is heavy with vanilla top notes but mellows into a more woody scent.

Varvatos has come out with a pretty strong line up. Not my jam but people seem to like it.

Yves St. Lauren has a fragrance called Libre which is fun. Nice lavender notes.

Probably the most metro thing about me is my tendency to always have at least 10-15 different brands/types of cologne to choose from at all times. I've been like this for roughly 15 years.
With that said, my favorite (and my wife's favorite), hands down is:

http://i.ebayimg.com/00/$(KGrHqF,!lkE4lrfVIM(BOMg7lY!2w~~1_35.JPG?set_id=880000500F

You won't smell anything else like it...guaranteed. Smells great. And it was discontinued a few years ago, so you can only get ahold of it via Ebay...which sucks.

Another unique one is Eddie Bauer Adventurer.

HOWEVER...there is one cologne that sticks out in terms of getting the absolute most positive responses from the females. This stuff is like catnip to the pussies.... no joke....the name of this cologne is....

....drumroll.....

Paris Hilton for Men.

No joke. I've tried/had hundreds of different types of cologne. If you wear this, you are GUARANTEED to receive some extra attention. The stuff is an absolute chick-magnet. What sucks is being asked the inevitable question of, "what is that sexayyy cologne you are wearing???" To be honest, replying with "oh, I'm wearing Paris Hilton for Men" is straight up embarrassing to me. So I usually make something up on the spot. For example, last week one of my wife's friends asked me what kind of cologne I was wearing and I replied with, "uhhhh.....errr.....Casablanca!!!" "Casablanca" was the first thing that came to mind because there was a "Casablanca" poster hanging behind her when she asked me. She responded with, "well, I'm going to have to get my husband some because that is the best scent ever."

Awesome review:

"This product is great. I'm a male prostitute I need my genitals to be fresh at all times. Nothing turns a paying customer off more than a pair of acorns that reek like, well..... that reek like you're a male prostitute. I work mostly with older ladies who enjoy the company of an guy who has confidence that his bojangles smell clean and presentable. This product does that. Before I used Fresh Balls my giblets stuck to my leg and would smell like burnt plastic and garbage juice. My sales were terrible and I thought I would have to quit the biz and move back in with my parents. (My dad is an extremely successful male prostitute so this is even more embarrassing.) I tried everything from cologne, to Lysol, to actually washing them and nothing seemed to stop the stink. I bought Fresh Balls as a last ditch effort to save my career. Holy heck did it work! My marbles are clean, fresh, and ready to go at all times. No longer do I have to worry that if I pick up a Jill (what we call female customers in the biz) at the dollar store by my condo that my balls smell sour. They don't smell sour. They smell great. You don't have to be a male prostitute to buy this product. It works for everybody with a sack that wants it to smell like a summer breeze. My sack smells like a summer breeze. A summer breeze that will have sex with you for money. Thank you Fresh Balls!"

A good friend of mine used to tell me how she loved a man's musk. Times she would come over to my house and I had gone to the gym she'd ways hug me a little closer.

It was strange.

Yup. My GF, at the time, and I both got scents with pheromones and it was ON. A lot and primal. Good times.

Not a specific brand, but it seems like the most universal scent that women like on a man is a bit of vanilla. That means Joop, polo black, etc. my general rule is if I like the way it smells then it's probably not going to be something women like.

It's just Paris Hilton for Men. I have Cool Water also. I don't really notice the similarities, homeslice. Not to mention, when I wear Paris Hilton for Men, chicks are like, "omg, what is that awesome cologne you have on???" When I wear Cool Water, chicks will be like, "so whatcha wearing? But speaking of wearing stuff from the old days...it is incredible how much a smell can connect you with a different place and time. A few months ago out of curiosity I wanted to see if I could track down what I used to wear in junior high\early HS days from remembering what the bottle looked like. I may try to buy little samples online just to take a jog down memory lane.

One of the old ones I remember is called Canoe...and people really talk bad about online. :D

Agreed, I have always stuck with the "clean" or water types like Nautica, Cool Water (in HS), and currently CK One. Don't wear it all that often, most women will comment on my deodorant first (get a good Old Spice scent) so that will get you by. Also, do not undervalue some of the aftershaves, I keep a bottle of just the plain old Gillette after shave in my Jeep which is good for freshening up.

I have always thought the "perfume" types were for massive pussies. Eternity being the number one offender, that shit is women's perfume in a different bottle. Drakar is also in this category IMO.

I've rolled around the idea of getting some Silver Mountain, but I have a hard time getting away from the heavier Orientals just because I like them so much. I know it's a personal thing, but the grassiness of the Vetiver types comes off as gasoline-ish to my nose.

I do like to have a four seasonal, casual and dress cologne rotation though. I am in need of a couple of new Spring and Summer scents.

CHICKS...FREAKING...LOVE...PARIS HILTON FOR MEN. And it's cheap...it's only like $15 on Ebay.

I saw this post and decided to give it a shot shortly thereafter. I'm just about done with a bottle - it's been magical. I have definitely received more positive attention with this scent than any others I've tried. Kudos to you, man. Srsly.
