He's 61 today. Hard to believe.

What's your favorite George Brett story -besides his pine tar rant and pooping his pants in the Bellagio?

Happy Birthday Mullet!

Not so much a story but a moment--
The 1980 season was when I started really getting into baseball and when he blasted that HR off Gossage in the 1980 ALCS...that was just fucking awesome.

Here are a couple of lines from the song's original lyrics which, you must agree, make it much better:

"Feeling someone up,
I'm feeling someone up..."

Anyone remember how the rest of the song went?

He's mellowed as he's gotten older. This was pretty cool of him to help the local Animal Shelter:

My favorite memories of GB: Fighting with Nettles after a hard slide at third. Hitting for the cycle. Standing at 2nd with this arms raised when breaking .400 in 1980. Flying into the dugout after a pop foul in the 85 Worlds Series. Hugging Sabes on the mound when they won it all. I went to Cooperstown in 1999 and was there when he was inducted. He Be GB, KC's version of Stan the Man. He's KC's Man.

His homer off Gossage in 1980 was the greatest moment of my sporting fandom. Also, Game 3 of the 1985 ALCS was the most dominant, all-around, single-game performance by a baseball player I've ever seen.

I also was at his induction ceremony. Wish CP had existed back then, would've been great to meet up with you and other posters.

George Brett singlehandedly put us on the map of relevance in baseball, and it pretty much coincides with his retirement that we were back off again.

He's the only real superstar we've had, and I'll always remember driving down with the family from Iowa and watching him play. I was so excited every time he came up to bat and emulated him and his swing as a boy.

George Brett, Tom Watson, Trent Green, and Wil Shields are not only great athletes from our area - they also still call it home.

In fact I ran into Trent Green yesterday afternoon. He was with his son and they were getting into a new jeep and Trent was pointing out some stuff to his kid as his son took the wheel. These guys don't have to live in KC (frankly I'd probably live in Arizona at least half the year) but they do and that's awesome.

I saw them play the O's in Memorial Stadium way back when. He wouldn't sign autographs.

Loved him as a player though.

I used to know a guy who worked in the Royals clubhouse. He said they called Brett's girlfriend "can opener" because he liked to stick his fingers in her mouth and yank her head back when doing her doggie style.

George is the best every day player we've had. Saberhagen was phenomenal as a young pitcher. And I think you could say Bo Jackson was a "Superstar" while he played here. If he had only played baseball, he'd be in the HOF now.

Ya just gotta wonder if he shook her up first so that, when he 'popped her top', she'd squirt all over?

He was fucking awful in '78. We should have dumped him half way through the season. WE had plenty of RH Pitchers to choose from and we stuck with Bird.

Did you know that in '78, Brett only had 9 HR's in the entire reg season?

His stat line for Playoffs during his career: .337/.397/.627/1.023. Money Player

Didn't see this one posted yet. '77 ALCS against the Yankees. Brett triples and then slides hard at third, Nettles kicks him and Brett comes up swinging. Good stuff and sort of exemplifies the rivalry we had with the Yankees in the late 70s...

Favorite GB Story??? Well I enjoyed a lot of Baseball ones but this is a little different take. Back in his heyday an acquaintance of mine used to bone him and she thought she was his only booty call girl. Like he didn’t have 10-20 in every major league town. LMAO
