Country isn't really my cup of sweet tea, but the first thing that came to mind was Flatt and Scruggs. My dad was a pretty big fan of theirs.

"Best" and "Country" is an odd combonation, but the rap-country classic "Devil Went Down to Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band is the only good country song ever in history.

Who by the way were influenced greatly by Country Music Hank Williams and many more.

Many early songs such as far away eyes and Wild Horses many believe were written by Gram Parsons of Flying Burrito Brothers fame. He threw Old Mick and Keith who he was very good friends with a bone.

Check out some the Keith Richard tributes to Gram Parsons.

That said I have got to go with Hank Williams and his Drifting Cowboys Band. More Country Music was influenced by this man than anyone. He is Country Musics Elvis.

They are starting their career out awfully similar to what Alabama did, all of their songs have went #1. Alabama was a country mixed band taking a lot of the sounds of Skynyrd and the Eagles and making it more mainstream country. They very well could end up being one of the top's of all-time.

The Outlaws

Well perhaps best Guitar work in a country song for Green Grass and High Tides.

Might need to make this a generational thing. Zac Brown band is pretty high up the list from a talent standpoint of any of the current folks.

Probably the most entertained I have been would be Eric Church or Big and Rich. Be seeing Church at the Country Stampede in a few weeks.

One could make a case for either Alabama or The Statler Brothers. By and far away, they are 1 & 2 anyway you want to list them. It comes downs to your personal choice.

The title says band ..... basically meaning 4 or more since you have solo's, duo's , trio's. Yes 4 can be a quartet of which is how The Statler Brothers started in gospel and then became Johnny Cash's back up singers, then Johnny got them their own gig and they took off. I always enjoyed their TV show as a kid growing up.

I will go with The Statler Brothers then Alabama.

That Glenn Campbell and John Denver pop country/ 1970s

That Kenny Rogers and Eddie Rabbitt pop country/ 1980s

That Garth Brooks and Shania Twain pop country / 1990s

That Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw pop country / 2000s
