What do you get at this delicious franchise?

Look's like they've omitted the chicken, from what I can see.

Used to go a lot as a kid, haven't been since HS.

Moms would get coupons and they had free kids' meals for kids' birthdays. Probably 8-10 times a year growing up.

Got sick there once, well on the way home, but it wan't the food. I was addicted to tartar sauce and once when I was 5 or so I probably ate twice as much tartar sauce as I did fish.

Still love tartar and cocktail sauce, though. And of course malt vinegar on hush puppies.

I wont set foot in Long Dongs but the Captain hell yes. I dont go often but when I do its Captain D's and the 2 piece fish dinner. I dont care much for fried shrimp or the coconut crap.

As far as cleanliness goes Ds has it all over Long Dongs.

They closed the one close to me in Mission, KS. Looking at their map I'd have to drive 10 miles to KCK for the nearest one.

I've never actually eaten there, but their food doesn't look half bad. And according to their nutrition facts you can actually have a decent meal without a ridiculous amount of calories. It might be worth the drive to try it out.

It's amazing how people take a great piece of healthy fish and turn it into a heart clogging, grease bomb of 1,000 calories.

Kills then hides the flavor and for me adds no value.

I NEVER eat breaded or fried fish. Such a waste IMHO.

Give me sushi, ceviche or a great wok steamed piece of grouper, red snapper, or mahi mahi anyday.

I don't go, but whenever I'd hit up Captain D's, it was always something with shrimp, maybe fish, okra, and corn.

I liked the LJS with the attached A&W. Ice cold root beer or a delicious float.

At least in my memory, it was better than LJS. MoF, Cap'nD was right across from LJS in Grandview, and we never went there.

LJS is bland and gets all its flavor from tartar, cocktail and malt.

Cap'nD had some spices and felt less 'fried hunk of stuff'

Is Arthur Treachers still around. Back when I was young they were outstanding. But a lot of things were . If they are still around they could have suffered the fate of LJS once proud now is a drippen mess of greasy fish.

Looks like they're in the upper NE, mostly in NY. They're often co-franchised with Nathan's HotDogs.

One site had a menu, and prices were in the $10-15 range for meals, so I think they'd have to be higher quality than LJS to merit it.

I know I've mentioned it before - there were Arthur Treachers in Hartsfield AP in Atlanta up until 2011ish (at least one location) - they/it were/was attached to a Nathan's -

Additionally we'd go to the Noland Road Location, growing up - The pics remind me of how good it was - VERY early memories.

It honestly never occurred to me until now, but in the vast StL metro, these are the only two of these that are remotely near me at all [they're about 6 miles away as the crow flies, and it's the only Rally's within 15 miles]. Aside from one way over in metro east, it's the only CapD on this side of the state, I think.

A coincidence you might enjoy.
