I like mine topped with crumbled bacon, hard boiled eggs, shredded cheese and all drenched in ranch. There, so much for this being a healthy food topic.

Depends on the salad. Potato and macaroni salad isn't that healthy.

This is not a manly and hairy football thread. I must check my pants for balls.
They're gone.
I like all salads except for salads that suck. Namely, salads with nuts in them and salads with meat in them. I feel like meat in a salad disqualifies it from being a salad. Salad fingers. My favorite is grape salad.

So what do you think about things called "salad" that really aren't salads? I'm talking about tuna salad, chicken salad, potato salad, pasta salad...
Since when did putting mayo on something and mixing it up become salad? Salad is something based on uncooked leafy greens. GTFO with your girly white dressing salads?
Also, I find it disgusting and weird that Miracle Whip is classified as salad dressing.

I don't know how to help you. I would draw you a picture but I'm on a kindle and don't feel like finding an app. Hmmm..
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale. A tale of a fateful trip. That started in a tropic port aboard a tiny ship. The mate was nothing of a sailing man the skipper was a perv. All passengers died at sea except for a boy and a girl. And a goat named Pearl.

My favorite salad is the one that is served next to a 16oz Steak cooked medium sitting next to a baked potato and a nice tall glass of iced tea.
All other salads are posers.

Gotta think of self preservation here toots

I couldn't sleep at night worrying about whether he was going to eat my goat. It's better this way.

If he didn't like feta there's a chance he might not eat the goat.
But maybe it wouldn't be worth the chance.
I'm betting a roasted human male hind quarter with a side salad of palm leaves and feta would be pretty tasty come the 7th day.

Foreplay?? It's not my birthday!
Also, jello, cool whip, and caramel seem to be mandatory in every fruit dish. Unless it's a big picnic table full of watermelon.

Has the Cobb salad received the love that it deserves in this thread? Cobb salads are really good. Their only downside is that a good Cobb salad will have 1,000 calories.
I go to "fast casual" restaurant for lunch pretty frequently in downtown Denver. You get to do the make-your-own salad thing, and I've discovered the perfect salad. I'll occasionally do minor variations, but their core salad is this:
Greens:
2/3rd mixed greens
1/3rd spinach
Protein:
Citrus chicken
Toppings:
Mandarin oranges
Edamame
Pear chunks
Corn (occasionally substituted with apples or artichoke hearts)
Cheese:
Cheddar
Dressing:
Ginger soy (this place has a great ginger soy that really makes the salad)

I spent nearly every Christmas for the first 30 or so years of my life at my grandparents' house in Iowa and never once saw that. I can't decide if it sounds good or not.

Grilled beef, fresh pico, dressing of choice, and two handfuls of crushed, salted corn chips on top. Add vinegar hot sauce to perfect.
