I'm messing around with a database of county populations at the moment. Drop your name here and I'll assign you a new county to live in. I'll give you the name of the county and then you can go learn more from there.

Selection will be random, but weighted on population because hey, you've got to go where the jobs are.

As for me, I'll lead off and am being transferred to....

Cobb County, Georgia
Population 691,820

Looks like it's a northern suburb of Atlanta, near Marietta. If I remember right, that's a reasonably upscale suburb.

I suspect that I won't really like the traffic. And I hope they don't eat grits there.

It's really nice, especially down near the river. I used to go to Marietta a lot for work. Of course there are some ghettoish areas around Smyrna as you get closer to Atlanta proper. There are tons of trees and everything is super green. It's incredibly humid though and you'll turn into a puddle of sweat as soon as you step outside. And yeah, the traffic is incredibad there.

City Data profile for Wheaton, Illinois.

http://www.city-data.com/city/Wheaton-Illinois.html

Cost of living is a little high but seems to be a safe bedroom community with plenty of amenities and spitting distance to anything you could want in the Windy City. I mean, it is not like you landed me in the south side.

I just wonder if I could afford a home with the median price of $325,000. May have to rent and let the landlord shovel the winter snow.

No guns is the deal breaker for me... Otherwise, livable.

Wheaton, Illinois from City Data

Median household income $86,000

Demographics:

And a few of my nice neighbors over at Wheaton College.

http://wheatonthunderettes.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/img_4183.jpg

Cost of living would be the biggest thing. My cost of living calculator shows that my $110,000 salary today would have to be $116,800 in Wheaton to have the same standard of living. Not a big jump. But I am sure there would be a market for engineers.
