Fraternities and sororities go through 100 times worse shit. What a ridiculous precedent this sets. I would bet that 99.9% of band members legitimately had no complaint and that this had gone on for years. And I would bet this problem would have been solved if the student/parent personally approached the band director instead of airing dirty laundry.

Is it just me or does it seem like a bunch of really, really sexually repressed teenagers overcompensating?

When I was in high school, our band director was getting on to us and telling a story about how Penn State lost a lot of funding for its band after they spelled out curse words during halftime shows. Did that guy go on to teach at Ohio State?
