What I'm looking for Week 2...

Quarterbacks - The Chiefs need to give us a heavy dose of Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray. At some point KC has to see more of those two in game situations. They can't conceivably keep four quarterbacks with the way the roster sits. The Chiefs have to pick their best two backups and move along.

Running Backs - The Chiefs need to give D'Anthony Thomas a few more touches out of the backfield. They also need to give heavy doses to Cyrus Gray and Charcandrick West. The Chiefs will have to decide if they want to keep Gray, West, or neither.

Wide Receivers - The Chiefs need to showcase Junior Hemingway, Frankie Hammond Jr. A.J. Jenkins, and Albert Wilson. One of those 4 will not make this team, time to find out who it is. I don't see any other wideouts competing for slots 3-5 on the roster.

Tight Ends - I'd really like to see more from Demetrius Harris and Richard Gordon. A touch more form Kelce with the first team. I don't want to see Fasano, I know what he is.

Offensive Line - I'd like to see Ricky Henry at left guard with the first team. I want to see more from Rishaw Johnson and Ryan McKee. I'd really like to see McKee at both left and right tackle. I'd like to see Laurent Duvernay-Tardif at guard, I'm intrigued by him and wonder if he has any shot at making the 53. At this point I think I'm looking at a practice squad guy.

Defensive Line - I'd like to see Vance Walker at DE more. I want to see Kyle Love at NT. I want to see Jermelle Cudjo much more at both DE and NT.

Linebacker - I want to see alot of James-Michael Johnson and Josh Martin on the field. Both look like they could make this team. I wouldn't mind seeing Johnson with the #1 unit for a series.

Cornerback - Definitely want to see Phillip Gaines with Marcus Cooper on the number 1 unit, just to see if the two young guys can hack it together. DeMarcus Van Dyke and Vernon Kearney also need some serious field time. Someone needs to be the 5th corner and I have serious concerns about Ron Parker.

Safety - I think Malcolm Bronson and Jerron McMillian should log alot of snaps together. I'd love see each one get a series with the first team. After that, I want to get a good look at Sorensen.

Specialists - I'll be keeping a close eye on this Santos v. Succop battle. It Santos has looked pretty damned good so far and Succop costs enough for a kicker.

Not bad Crow.

I think Murray makes it over Bray. He's smarter and is more in the mold of Smith and Daniel. He can run around and run that pistol better than Bray. I also think Bray is going to choke under pressure in the preseason against the twos.

I think Nico Johnson is a lock over Mauga. Nico is very very good on special teams.

I think Hemmingway makes it and Jenkins gets cut.

I also think McMillan goes to the practice squad and either Duvernay-Tardiff or Harrison make the 53. I think one of those guys could get picked up if they put them on the PS and aren't careful.

I hear you but they will be putting him back there some this year. I would almost bet my left testicle on it. They will be getting him the ball in space any way they can. It's going to take an entire year to turn him into a straight up WR. That's a big transition.

Would they be smart to IR Joe McKnight? Let him get that knee fully healed up and see what he can bring next year.

Wouldn't happen. If he feels he's healthy and they tried to IR him, they'd get in big trouble with the NFLPA. He's a year removed from his ACL so he shouldn't need IR and he's been in the league long enough that he wouldn't allow a team to stash him on IR if he feels like he can still play.

Good point.

He's on PUP now though, no? Could they use that as a springboard to IR? And he still gets paid if the team IRs him, correct?

McKnight intrigues me with his potential, especially in an Andy Reid offense. We're pretty good to go at RB, but it would kind of suck if he didn't get a shot with us (and maybe I'm just going full Mecca here, remembering his USC days...).

I'll say this: if we go a whole preseason without seeing Bray get to sling it once, I will become quite upset.

They gave him a whole quarter last week and squandered it by making him hand off the ball 80% of the time.

Warning to everyone in this thread, inccluding the OP: they're likely playing the 1s all 1st half, and 2s all 2nd.

You're not going to see a lot -- if any -- of Bray and Murray.

I don't think we see any Murray this prreseason. I'm guessing they are hiding him.

I haven't assigned Murray to the PS in this edition and I haven't cut him yet either... he's the one guy I left in limbo. All I know so far is that Daniel played fairly well in Week 1, Bray wasn't terrible, and we hardly saw Murray (concerning if he has a shot of being on the 53-man this year and not the PS).

I don't think Nico is a lock over anything. Mauga is outstanding on special teams, a big reason they signed the guy to begin with. I'm at 90% right now on Nico hitting the road, unless he shows more than he has over the next few weeks.

The whole Hemingway/Jenkins/Rest of the Shit heap competition is a big unknown to me. I haven't seen any single WR stand out at any point in a game situation that makes me say "wow!" I think Wilson looked ok. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine.

I think Tardiff is too raw to make the 53 this year, so far. Harrison's hammy problems aren't going to help him. McMillian is going to make this team for sure, at least with his performance thusfar.

Normal preseason protocol for the 2nd week is that the starters get all of the 1st quarter and a series or two in the 2nd quarter. They, likely, won't play the entire first half unless there are long, sustained drives.

The twos do get extensive work thereon after, but we should see the threes late in the game, or mixed in with the twos throughout the latter half of the 3rd and 4th quarter.

With the Chiefs situation in making a decision at QB, they might wait to let Bray and Murray play extensively in Week 4, that I would concede, but it would be nice to see both get some action this week because they aren't getting any in Week 3.

Of course, players can develop and become the players that some thought they could be when drafted, expecially one as young as Jenkins.

Or they can continue to be crap.

Either way,we are no worse off than we expected to be when the Chiefs failed to address the position in the offseason.

Ideally, I agree. It doesn't seem the KC brass is trending that way however. Bray and Murray have both shown me enough to think they could both hold the clipboard as well as Daniel, and would combine to make less than Daniel.

I'd rather keep an extra WR who has shown promise than an extra DB who will always suck donkey balls.

Shit I'd rather convert one of those WR to DB. Can't be any worse.

Jenkins has some serious speed, maybe we should try it.

The knock on him is that he's soft. Not going to work.

I'd rather keep Van Dyke than have the 5th safety on the roster.

Neither Jenkins nor Hemmingway have shown anything at all, let alone "promise".

Agreed.

KC carried 3 RBs and 6 WRs last season. They carried 10 DBs. I see them going a similar route once again.

RB appears to have Charles, Davis and Gray with Thomas as a possible flex (WR primarily)

WR as Bowe, Avery, Thomas (flex RB), and what looks to be Hammond and Lewis to this point. Both Hammond and Lewis have shown me more promise than Jenkins and Hemingway. I'd have to say I might lean towards Hemingway if he could stay out of the tub, but neither have been much of anything.

As for the DBs, I look for KC to once again carry 5 CBs and 5 Safeties. That means the 5th safety spot almost has to go to Sorensen by default unless Amaya somehow steps up and amazes the next couple weeks. Obviously that kid from Georgia can't stay out of the tub. The CB situation is no less troubling, with little promise there. The defensive back situation is a huge mystery at this point.

If ya'll have better ideas on who makes it, rifle them out, its what I posted for

Edit. BTW I have Van Dyke on the 53 over Parker at this point, but if you think Parker would be a better keep than Sorensen, I'm all ears.

I wouldn't cut Sorenson, I think he's got good upside as a backup and ST ace.

Move Parker back to S. I'd keep K Williams over AJ Jenkins. I believe A Smith said something about the two of them having a connection

I might trend towards the Parker over Sorensen move, but Williams has been a non-factor thusfar.

Good news for us, bad for the Cards. Darnell Dockett is out for the season, should make it a lot easier for the right side of our line. We still have to deal with Campbell on the left though.

Thought Parker was a CB with us last season and not a FS or SS?

ROFL "Shown you enough?" This kind of stuff cracks me up. Your limited exposure isn't near enough to make a sound decision.

This is where I am with it. Add to it his price tag and it seems like a no-brainer.

I feel like there may be some castoffs from other teams who could start in this OL. They looked just plain awful.

I'm hoping for some vet cuts that don't have to go through the waiver wire.

Unfortunately it's getting a little late to bring in o-linemen. It takes a while to gel and we probably wouldn't get much better if any better at all at this point. If we are going to do it, we need to do it today. However I don't think Dorsey and Reid are that worried about it. If they are good 90% of the time, that will be enough imo. We have a mobile QB and a couple of HB/WR types. We throw a lot of quick passes to the backs. I might totally eat crow about this but I think we only need a C+ grade o-line to make the playoffs. Green Bay had some pretty mediocre o-lines while Dorsey was up there.

What's really going to hurt is that they're going to bring in a journeyman LEFT TACKLE to plug in so that Fisher can rest his shoulder.

And they're not going to sign anybody to address the interior line, WR, or DB. Nothing like spending limited resources to band aid a position you just addressed with the #1 overall pick.

Oh bullshit man... If Fisher can't play they will start Stephenson at LT. Stop with the conspiracy theories you Don Stephenson truther.

Just curious if you read the whole bit, because I'm quite sure I said they've shown me enough to hold a clip board as well as Daniel... ;)

Perhaps they could have fucking drafted someone to address those positions instead of pissing away nearly every pick they've had the last two years.

I hope everyone is still thrilled with the Chiefs taking Dee Ford over Xavier S'ua-Filo.

We could have taken a lineman in the 3rd and been just fine. It was not necessary to take one with our 1st pick.
