View Full Version : Chiefs Playoff Team?

What a game.

Here are a few of my thoughts.

1. The running back combo of Charles and Davis is deadly. Yikes. It's not the yards they put up or Charle's TDs, it's their different styles and how it can mess up the defense.

2. Kelse. Look, I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this, but this kid is more of a weapon than Tony ever was. Kelse is electric, a big play TE who is really only comparable to Jimmy Graham.

3. Oline. It's a mess, but these guys have played well in the last couple of week against some pretty good pass rushers. Getting Stephenson back should help, adding more young depth in next years draft will really help this team for the long run.

4. Abdullah. If we change the way we are playing him when Berry comes back we are idiots. One would have to think that Berry is good enough to allow KC to continue to use Abdullah is the same aggressive manner.

5. Andy Reid. This place is full of pessimists, but damn, we have a good coaching staff and it shows.

6. Playoffs. Before the season I posted a thread about why I was optimistic about the Chiefs season. Look, we are competing for a wild card not a division title if we are being honest with ourselves. That means we are competing with teams like the Steelers, Ravens, Chargers, and Texans of the world for two playoff spots. We can beat all of those teams. Hell, I think we can compete with anyone, especially at home.

Playing like this? Yes

Playing like week 1? No

We are somewhere in between. This team has the ability to beat anyone, though. That much is crystal clear.

It's a possibility. The only thing that really really hurts our chances is we play in a good division and play against another great division in the NFC West.

The Chiefs are every bit as good as the teams from the NFC West (save Seattle). My concern is that we are going to get worn down playing against them.

For the AFC I would say you have, 1 team only from the East, Indy/Hou, Cin/Bal/Pit, Den/SD/KC. Which 3 are you taking out.

Ever since the schedule released, the New England game and the San Fran game stuck out to me as games people would chalk up as a loss but we would win.

They haven't looked all that good these last few weeks, but unfortunately we're coming off a short week and traveling. Hopefully Reid has them in check and ready to roll and get a W for Alex like they did @Philly last season for Reid

We'll know next week.

Good win, but Pats were bad.

I thought the same thing.

Yeah the SF game gives me the feeling I had prior to the Philly game last year. Andy Reid going into his old stadium. Alex Smith going into his old stadium. We'll see I guess.

Beat the 49rs and well see.

When Reid call a bunch of bombs or tries to have Alex Smith win with Avery the answer is no. What gives me hope is the last two games he seems to be learning where the strengths of the team are, Kelce is growing into the role of difference-maker, and our defense seems to be doing a lot better on the long ball.

I think the injuries during the Titans game combined with Reid losing his mind cost us an easy W.

I think we got much closer to beating the Broncos in Denver than most expected.

I won't be surprised if we win next week in the least if we can continue to have this kind of a balanced attack.

Houston has nothing at QB and a worn down running back. Great defense but not enough offense, they won't make the playoffs. They are the team that needed Orton IMO.

Pittsburgh or Baltimore - One of them will not make the payoffs. Division will beat each other up, Steelers are old, both teams lack overall talent to be good week in and week out.

Division winners
Patriots (or someone else if they continue to suck)
Indy
Bengals
Broncos

Wildcards - Chiefs, Chargers, or Ravens.

If we beat the Chargers we make the playoffs IMO.

We are not a playoff team, sorry. We just beat a bad team and a below average team to pull even at .500.

Great win but a reality check is coming soon.

I have not watched enough of san fran,
but you gotta no Mr Smith has a hate hard on for them,
Charles wants to establish his return,
Davis wants some to
and Kelce is fucking good

on the D side get Berry back and turn Abdulla loose

Cin/Bal
Indy
Den/SD

Yeah. I think one of the games you'll barely beat us by running all over us, but the other game, we'll score a lot on you and barely win because you will have run all over us in that game too.

And before that we were close to beating one of the league's best teams on the road missing our best player on both sides of the ball. This team will be in the hunt come December.

I've said it since day 1... Reid is a great coach. He gets everything he can from his players. This team is on the bubble concerning a playoff spot. If they get lucky and the ball bounces right? Maybe. They're an average team with some bright spots to work around.
To beat the patriots in this fashion just shows they're not as bad as we thought. They're starting to gel and I think they'll be relevant come mid-late December.

Didn't get to watch much of the game but what I did watch was hilarious. The Patriots are ****ing bad. Picked it up just before the Chiefs scored their first TD and then watched the Chiefs drive 80 yards on 3 plays on their next possession. Then next thing I see is it's 41-7 in the 4th with Garoppolo in the game.

What a game.

Here are a few of my thoughts.

2. Kelse. Look, I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this, but this kid is more of a weapon than Tony ever was. Kelse is electric, a big play TE who is really only comparable to Jimmy Graham.

Lets....not get carried away. That's a LEGENDARY tight end youre talking about in Gonzalez. I like this kid Kelce as much as anyone, but lets not prepare him for a bronze bust just yet.

5. Andy Reid. This place is full of pessimists, but damn, we have a good coaching staff and it shows.

Getting better with the playcalling, but that final possession of the first half was ASS. Shouldve been a TD there with proper clock management, and only the luck of a defensive penalty gave us the opportunity to tack on 3 after Bowe failed to break the plane of the goal line. Still WORLDS away from being competent at managing the clock.

If the Chiefs continue to play the way they have these last 3 games, I think we have a wild card shot. We didn't beat Denver, but we took it to them in their own house, and were playing for a tie in the last 15 seconds with a team that at that point was in total disarray. Beat the Dolphins soundly where we haven't been too lucky in Miami, and restored our honor at home breaking the home losing slide stomping the Patriots into the ground.

Another shot to make a statement this Sunday, you know Alex Smith would love to go into SF sunday and drop the niners in their own stadium.

Ever since the schedule released, the New England game and the San Fran game stuck out to me as games people would chalk up as a loss but we would win.

We'll see on the SF game. I do agree most picked them to lose to the Pats. But then again, most people picked them to beat Tenn. I think 2/2 is about right where most reasonable people had them pegged. Next month is huge. Schedule gets nice and soft for a while after.
