The Royals have, by far, the most expensive playoff tickets on the secondary market.

I guess thats what 29 years does.

If I would have known that tickets were gonna get this damned expensive, I would bought like 12 of them last week and sold them now. Oh well, for now I'm just grateful I bought into the ALDS early and literally saved hundreds of dollars.

Nothing to test our magic like throwing Vargas against Trout, Pujols, Hamilton, and Kendrick.

Gotta take it to them early, set the tone.

No kidding.

I got 2 decent tickets (5 rows from front of upper deck by first base) for $68 each. (Game 2 on Friday).

Expensive tickets in KC, cheap in Orange County. Wake me up.

Also, because I know myself, and I know damned well I'd pay for the world series if they made it, I bought a ticket to game 1. They'll probably not make it, and I'll get a refund if they don't, but I'll at least limit the damage to only *shudder* a bit over $600 if they did.

I'm willing to sit out the ALCS, but I would have to go to 1 game if they made it to the world series, so I limited the damage tonight by just reserving a ticket now. They'd probably be a thousand damned dollars for SRO tickets the night we won the AL.

So I have been hearing that perhaps Duffy won't start this series. Why is that? Anyone hear anything different?

He's in the pen for long relief for now. There are questions as to whether or not he's 100% healthy. The Royals and Duffy both say he's fine, but you have to wonder at this point. The question is, though, if he ISN'T healthy, then why use a roster spot on him?

My guess is he goes Monday or Tuesday if he hasn't been used in long relief at that point, but that's all it is: a guess.

In other fun news, Vargas' clip at Anaheim is pretty sick-nasty: 2.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 129 IP.

Also, Raul Ibanez is hitting over .440 with 4 home runs vs Weaver, so don't be surprised to see him get an AB tonight.

Yep, if we picked him for long relief instead of Ventura or Vargas, then I think we have to assume that something's up, and that he might still be healthy enough to pitch a few innings, but can't start for some reason.

Pujols always kills us too. This is going to be a hell of a tough series, especially the way some of our starters have been going the last month of the season. Going to have to win a lot of high scoring ball games somehow.

Going to need Gordon to pull his head out too.

For some reason, I'm just not scared of the Angels. I know they're good, and score a lot of runs, and Trout is great and all that. But Detroit is much nastier. I'm not taking this series lightly, we're still heavy heavy underdogs, especially coming off the sugar high from the last couple days. I'm guardedly optimistic.

How did you buy a WS ticket? I didn't think them and the ALCS were on sale yet?

I think all that's available now is whatever season ticket holders have paid for (and whatever they've put on stubhub, etc). The ALCS presale for group/partial season packages is today, so I assume the public sale is in the next day or two. Curious about the WS if that were to ever happen, but I assume it would be the same kind of thing.

The public sale didn't make a dent in the secondary market prices because there were very few tickets released.

I think there will be very, very few public tickets for the World Series. I'm guessing nearly every season ticket holder is going to grab extra tickets.

Yeah, the Chiefs have kind of conditioned us to think of playoffs as one and done, but now we've finally earned an actual postseason series, it takes some getting used to. That's why I'm not too nervous about tonight. If we lose, we're still very much alive.

I will say that the five-game format brings back some very traumatic memories, though.

alnorth
10-02-2014, 10:07 AM
I think I'd put us at about a 35% chance to win a 5-game series against the Angels. I think I'm fine with those odds. If we somehow get past the Angels, I'd put us at about 40-45% chance to win the ALCS.

Unfortunately, I had to wait to line things up. I was going to purchase yesterday but standing room started at $160. I thought maybe people were being ambitious and they would drop some. Now standing is starting at $220. So far my gamble took a big shit on me so far. Not sure if I should continue to wait it out or bite now. There is also the thought of hoping we go further and purchase ahead. I have the money just didn't expect the market to be like this. It's higher than Thunder playoff games and there are less available seats for those. Speaks volumes of how hungry KC is for post season success.

I'm really sick because going last Monday and Tuesday going to the Chiefs and Royals game fell through for me. What a couple of days that would have been. It was great enough watching from home.

Dear Royals Fan,
Thank you for registering for the chance to purchase 2014 Royals Postseason tickets before they go on sale to the public.
Unfortunately, your entry was not selected for the presale opportunity for the 2014 American League Championship Series.
Please be aware that you still remain eligible to be selected for a chance to buy presale tickets for potential World Series games at Kauffman Stadium. We will notify you via e-mail once the random drawing for that opportunity has taken place.
Tickets for the American League Championship Series will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 3, at 10 a.m. CT.

Clicked the ALCS presale button 20 minutes early... maybe a little demand for tickets when you have to wait in line online?

We are currently experiencing a higher than usual number of fans attempting to purchase tickets. In an effort to be completely fair to all fans we have developed this Virtual Waiting Room, used to randomly allow access to the ticketing system during busy times such as this when all visitors cannot be served simultaneously. You are currently in the pool to be randomly chosen to enter the site to purchase tickets. When we automatically refresh your browser, the system will randomly determine your status in the virtual waiting room. You will either be randomly selected to continue to your ticket purchase or you will remain in the virtual waiting room.

When you are selected you will automatically see a popup which you must click on to enter the site. You will have a very limited amount of time to respond to the popup otherwise you will have to return to the Virtual Waiting Room, so please remain near your computer. Make sure your computer speakers are turned on to hear periodic countdown beeps. Closing your browser and opening a new one will not improve your chances of entering the site; however, you are welcome to return at a later time when the site is not as busy.

Moose has been having better at bats lately, showing some penchant for at least going the other way. I thought it was going to take a 7 man pyramid in right field to make that happen. That's why Nix is left off.

Colon can play 3rd if we need him to.

So our bench guys are Colon, Willingham, Gore, Dyson, and Kratz?

That's solid.

Depending on how the game is going I might have to be superstitious and avoid posting during the game. Last game was an emotional roller coaster, and I was too locked in to post at the same time. But, it turned out we got the best Royals game in 3 decades, and the dramatic win, so maybe play it safe and see if we can pull off a game one W.

That would be an absolute godsend, especially when it figures to be our worst pitching matchup!

Let's go get em!

Yep, Detroit this year has not only steamrolled us, but we've inexplicably played our worst against them.
More errors, baffling atypical gaffs, and mental lapses against them by far!

Gordon's misplay on fielding what should be a routine catch for him is a prime example of bizarre and lackluster play against the Tigers all year. Alex seriously doesn't makes that catch maybe 1 out of 10,000+ attempts.

Here's to hoping the Royals make every prognosticator eat their words, as I've yet to see anyone picking KC to take the series! Also Baltimore prevailing would be ideal if you had to pick your poison next series.

I think I'd put us at about a 35% chance to win a 5-game series against the Angels. I think I'm fine with those odds. If we somehow get past the Angels, I'd put us at about 40-45% chance to win the ALCS.

Some of the numbers geeks crunched the numbers, and however the wizards do it, the Angel's likelihood of winning the series versus the Royals sits at 62.5%

So you're not that far off, and certainly much closer than I would have guessimated before reading that.

This. I've never seen a team look as comfortable at the plate as the Tigers when they're playing the Royals. We need to practically no-hit them two of three times in a row to get them to start pressing and get their confidence down. Meanwhile our hitters know this and press beyond belief – even in the field.

And then we conjure Kauffman Stadium Royals Devil Magic.

Which is odd for that to be the case when the teams split the season series 3-3. In all honesty, if I were a fan of theirs I'd always expect the other team wins at least one game.

Baseball just has too many variables to typically "dominate" a team game in and game out for at minimum 3 and up to as many as 5 games in a row.

TBS app.

Or if you have MLB - I know how to get around local blackouts on the android app. It uses GPS not an ip trace to determine if you are in the blackout market area.

Just download the app called Fake GPS, touch a spot on the map in like say Colorado, hit set and then open your MLB and start the live tv. You can chromecast the MLB app to your tv even. I've tried it before and surprisingly it's very good. I had a crisp HD picture on my 70' through chromecast.

Otherwise, ask, I think, alnorth or if someone else can chime in on setting up a VPN as another way to get around local blackouts.

Was Pearce watching the ball and jogging or what? I know the ball took a playable hop off of the wall, but damn dude. You can't get thrown out there.
According to the replay after the break, it looked like it. He didn't start running hard until right before he reached 1st.

Hoping some of the never watched a game before Tuesday night stay the **** out tonight, and a couple regulars too, lol.

They just about make it unbearable, had to take a couple breaks.

I've been a lifelong diehard fan for like 3 months, can I post?

The chicken little thing gets old after a while... like it's cool to call the game over or something. It's one thing to say it when it's 7-3, but at 2-0? Then 5-3? Then at 8-7? JFC.

I think he was jogging and watching the ball. He thought it was gone.He was. And that's disappointing because he's usually balls out on the bases.

On a side note, Andrew Miller remains nasty. And now it's O'Day-Britton the rest of the way...pending some shit happening.

We're about an hour away from Royals/Angels, right?
