While I agree with the drafturbators' point that the Chiefs should be drafting QB's in the first round, they really hurt their case by hitching themselves to the Geno wagon. Geno fucking sucks.

He needs a change of scenery. He's mentally beaten down right now. Notice his worst stretch of games in his career have been the last 3? He needs to settle down, and likely find a new team soon.

One thing I will say about the Geno lovers, is that I think those of us that wanted to draft him saw something in his physical potential and abilities on the field. Saw flashes of brilliance that, with good coaching could be molded into something special. NY was never a good spot for him. Lack of talent. Confused coaching staff, and bad offensive system for Geno.

If you sat there for the countless hours like a few of us did and watch every single Geno pass in his WV career, you'd have a hard time walking away thinking he's no good. 90% of his college tape was phenomenal. I know professional scouts who ranked him #1 in the entire draft based purely off of talent.

The problem is, as a fan, we can't always figure out a guys head. We don't have the luxury of talking with him at the combine and meeting with him at a pro day. I think his mental make up is what ultimately made him a 2nd round pick and not a top 10 guy.

I was never on the Geno bandwagon, but even I know that Rex Ryan could ruin any QB. It is pressure enough being under the NYC media scrutiny and all the bad press you get. But Rex Ryan is clueless when it comes to developing young QB talent. Clueless.

The Jets GM would be much better off trading for QBs or signing for veteran FA QBs, because he is never going to develop anybody there. He would have ruined Andrew Luck's career.

This is where I say, Chiefs should have taken Bridgewater at #23.

I said back during the draft that Geno doesn't have the mentality to be a good starting quarterback in the NFL. He's immature and has a tendency to point fingers which came out pretty quickly in the pre-draft process and definitely played a role in him dropping.

Nice talent, albeit a bit overrated but doesn't have the mentality or bearing to make it for long as a starter in the NFL.

Geno Smith missed team meeting

Updated: October 6, 2014, 11:05 AM ET
By Rich Cimini | ESPN.com

SAN DIEGO -- Among other problems, the New York Jets need to work on their clock management.

Quarterback Geno Smith and a few other teammates missed team meetings Saturday night because they went to see a movie and didn't make it back in time, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Smith & Co. got "messed up" because of the three-hour difference between Eastern and Pacific time, the person said.

The Jets traveled to San Diego on Friday in an attempt to acclimate themselves before they faced the Chargers on Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium. Players typically have free time before team meetings, so it's not unusual that they decided to catch a movie.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the players were reprimanded. No one was benched or appeared to have reduced playing time.

On Monday morning, a team spokesman called it an "honest mistake" and confirmed that Smith arrived 10 to 15 minutes after the meeting ended. Smith caught up afterward with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and quarterbacks coach David Lee.

It was Smith's first missed meeting, the spokesman said.

The Jets confirmed ESPN.com's reporting that said Smith was late because he got confused by the time difference. Coach Rex Ryan always keeps the team on Eastern time for West Coast trips, but Smith was thrown off because he saw the time on his cellphone, which showed Pacific time, a source said. The mix-up happens to a player on every West Coast trip, another source said.

Ryan didn't announce any discipline to the team, but some close to the team suspect the players will get fined.

Smith started Sunday's game, played poorly and was pulled at halftime in favor of Michael Vick. Ryan said he replaced Smith, who recorded a career-low 7.6 passer rating, because he was looking for a spark. The Jets trailed 21-0 then and ended up losing 31-0.

"If not then, then when?" Ryan said in explanation of his halftime change.

The coach quickly declared that Smith will return to his starting role for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

The New York Daily News first reported that Smith missed the meeting.

For Smith, it continues a concerning pattern of behavior. Eight days ago, he cursed at a fan after the Jets' loss to the Detroit Lions. He apologized immediately but was fined $12,000 by the league.

A few days later, Smith bristled during a media session when a reporter asked him whether he thinks Vick would provide a spark off the bench.

Now does everyone see why Andy wanted Alex Smith? How many games would this team have won if they would have taken Geno? And same for this year? Overall the Chiefs have a lot of deficiencies to address. Andy was probably thinking he wouldn't make it past year two without a guaranteed good QB. Build up the team around Alex and when the right QB comes along draft him and let him sit for 2-3 years and learn the game. That way you have a good team around a good QB.

Alex may not light the world on fire but he's also not going burn it down either.

Winning feels good man. Did you not feel good throughout the weeks where KC wins? or even battles well and plays the better teams till the end?

You would really feel no differently after suffering many huge blowout losses.. ending up 2-14 again, and having everyone else laughing?

Wins feel great... close losses against better teams sting, but one can still find some pride in such a loss. Losing miserably all year is... miserable.

I haven't "felt" anything after a Chiefs game for a long time. I no longer feel "good" when they win, nor do I feel "bad" when they don't.

In fact, I watch the Chiefs just like I do SNF or the CBS game on Thursday night - it's football, and other than having much more knowledge about the Chiefs than other teams, I don't really care if they win or lose anymore.

And FYI, other teams' fans are still laughing at us. Going 10-6 and losing in the first round of the playoffs doesn't stop that.

If anything, they see all of the adoration Alex Smith gets and they think Chiefs fans have finally fucking lost their minds.

Really? Only reason why Clay isn't posting much about Geno anymore is because, after all of the Geno dick-sucking that Clay did, he finally realized that Geno sucks.

He's not talking much about Geno now because he wants everyone to forget about him sucking on Geno's cock and balls. He mentioned Geno at every chance that he had prior to him finally realizing that Geno really sucks.

yes the team is 2-3. But I've never proclaimed us a playoff team this year. I thought we'd be competitive, but take a step back. But yes, I'm all on board for building and running a team like it's supposed to be done. Big time success doesn't happen overnight contrary to CP belief. All the complaining in the world won't make the people in charge of this team do what I think they should do, so I don't complain.

Mariota is gonna end up with either the Tampa Bay Bucs or the Rams. They are then going ot throw him into the fire and he will also get torn to pieces. As a result the coaching staff will get fired and the next coaching staff might benefit from the pick assuming the old staff didn't give up multiple years of 1st round picks to jump up to the number one spot....which they probably did in an attempt to save their jobs. The truth is QB's picked in the first round are such a gamble. Nine out of ten times they end up on a junk team and forced into service before they are ready. Then due to the beatings they endure they become gun shy and look like rabid animals scrambling around the field .

Smith became the first quarterback since 2012 to throw three interceptions in the first quarter. The Atlanta Falcons' Matt Ryan did it against the Arizona Cardinals.

Smith's first two interceptions came on underthrown deep balls, plays in which he forced the ball into tight coverage. The first was a long pass to Percy Harvin, who made his Jets debut.

On the third interception, Smith uncorked a wild overthrow on a pass to Eric Decker. Smith's final stat line was 2-for-8 for five yards, a 0.0 passer rating -- obviously, the worst of his career. Stephon Gilmore, Preston Brown and Aaron Williams made the interceptions.

Jets coach Rex Ryan had been patient with Smith, who showed small signs of improvement the last two games, but this latest stinker may portend a permanent switch. Smith was benched at halftime in Week 5 after a poor first half against the San Diego Chargers, but he received a postgame vote of confidence from Ryan.

Was it pretty today, no not really, not at all really unless you count individual performances from guys like Charles, Davis, Kelce after they have the ball in their hands... but WHAT does it matter, what the **** does it MATTER?

We WIN with Alex Smith, he doesnt make the dumbass mistake yet makes the play thats big enough when its there... you guys still prefer Cutler? ROFL... that mfer is a born loser no matter HOW much arm talent he has, the guy just doesnt have the guts or football IQ to WIN like Smitty.

Its NOT about 4000 yard seasons Clay, its not about 9 yard per throw averages CLAY... its about WINNING.

I actually agree that he landed in a terrible situation. But at the same time... Andy Reid has a pretty good history with developing QBs, has never had a problem drafting for that position, and obviously wanted nothing to do with Geno. To me that wasn't a good sign. People argued it was a coincidence, but they traded for Alex the last day of the scouting combine. I'm not sure it was a coincidence. Then again, they could've liked him, just didn't feel he was worth drafting quite that high.

Who gives a shit about beating the Rams? Maybe he'll get another weekly award for beating that shitty team.

EXACTLY.

This felt like one of the games in our 9-0 start last year.

Felt very...meh.

Somebody should make an Iron Mask of Genos face and Clayanus should have to wear it 24x7 for a year.....

Alex Smith was 6-11 on third downs. That includes several third and 10+. Also does not include a third down pass to Jenkins where there was p. I. The big difference with Smith this year is his third down efficiency has just been nails. Another 50%+ day which is simply outstanding.
