2) I don't give a fuck what team from what era you put against KC; they're going down.

If they can keep the momentum going, I don't see any reason they can't beat either of them. As someone who watched the Rockies win a play-in game, then sweep two series on the way to the World Series (where they were themselves swept), I'm just hoping they win the first game.

Giants fan here voting you can beat either team.

The Royals just scare me. The best chance the Giants would have is if they can win in 6 or 7, and be fresh going into the WS and hoping the Royals are rusty.

In 2012, the Tigers swept for the pennant and had a longer layoff than the Giants who won in 7. Some "experts" said that long layoff is bad for team. And sure enough the Giants swept the Tigers.

But the Tigers were piss poor at defense which it really killed them.

The Royals have no weaknesses. Scary team. With any luck, we will meet again but nobody should be surprised if the Royals win it all this year. I am sure they would be favored against either the Cards or Giants.

Royals = undefeated so far.

Th cards and giants could combine teams and we'd still win.

Reaper16
10-15-2014, 08:48 PM
The ONLY concern I have with the Giants will be the danger of cooling off while waiting to play game 1. I'm slightly more concerned about the Cards, because of the added pressure of an I-70 series & that more Cards fans can get into Kauffman Stadium than can Giants fans.

But on paper KC beats either of those teams in 5 or 6 games.

I think they can beat either team because they already swept Anaheim and Baltimore who I personally think are better than either SF or STL.

Simply Red
10-15-2014, 09:00 PM
It all comes down to just how hungry they are - how they'll perform in intense pressure and how much of their will they leave on the field.

I'd take the Royals against the Giants, I think they'd have a harder time vs. St. Louis. Even if SF happens to win NLCS. Even after tonight though - I'd never bet against Stl. Cards.

Yeah I think Perez and Infante especially will benefit from rest. I think Infante's arm and ABs looked better after both layoffs.

We played well against both teams this year. The Cards are banged up with Molina hurt. And I like being able to pitch Guthrie and Vargas in the Giants' big ballpark. But the Giants won't be phased by our playoff hot streak. They seem to flip the switch in October too.

The Giants are a lot like us. They win with good pitching and grinding out runs and getting timely hits. Would make for a great series if the Royals faced off against them.

Doesn't look that way now with the SF up 3 to 1. And now we want the Giants to win because we don't need a repeat of what the Rockies 07 team had to endure by literally waiting 9 days before the Series started. That really screwed them IMO.

Yup most definitely they can beat both. Wong and Jay are mini Tony Gwynn/Bonds now and they are down 3 to 1 over a team that can barely hit the ball out of the infield.

BigRedChief
10-15-2014, 10:49 PM
The only negative is the long time between games. The teams that have finished their Series other and had to wait for the other teams to finish haven't fared well. I liked playing then going on to the WS but, if I could have swept, of course you take that. It is what it is.

The Tigers against us in 2006 even played scrimmages but looked flat when the series started.

Doesn't matter. I think the Royals take the Giants or the Cardinals.

Regardless of what happened 3 months ago.

Two things.

First, I still believe that pitching and defence wins championships, and I donkt believethat anyone would argue that the Royals don't have the edge there.

Second, the Royals led the majors in stolen bases, while the Giants were last.
That could be the deciding factor.

Cards have been giving games away. Looks like we will be playing San Fran. Even though we are 8-0 we will be the underdogs again. Giants playing for the 3rd title in what 5 years? They have a solid team and great pitching. The first two home games will be crucial to get wins.

The time off isn't going to effect the Royals. Time off may cool hitting but not speed, defense, or pitching. Exhibit A would be Guthrie and Vargas. They had layoffs and pitched well enough to the point that if we get those performances from them again, we're gonna win the WS

The Giants have won 2 World Series in 3 years... they don't need #3 in 5 years. I like the Giants, but I'm already starting to hate some of their entitled fuck fans.

I've been to 8 games at AT&T Park... and most of them are there with their clients, drinking wine and eating cheese. The only time I saw those fans give a real fuck, was when Barry Bonds was jacking HRs.
