I'm thinking about heading out this summer for the Millionaire Maker or Weekend Warrior event(s).

Like the title says - Has anyone on here ever played them?

Any advice you can offer?

No - I'm a Keno player - Had great luck on Keno over the years, surprisingly. LOL

Why Not?

Not yet. When my kids are bigger and I can take a week, I would love to play in the main event or at least one of the bigger side tourneys.

The main event is a bucket list thing. I'd love to play it. Unfortunately, I cannot swing the 10k buy in right now. I've been playing some solid poker in the past few months. I used to play all the time. It was a part time job to me.

Obviously, if I keep up my play or do worth a damn in a smaller event the main evennt could be a possibility

Yeah, I should specify that I would need to win a seat for the main event at a local or satellite tournament or do great in some sides first. It would cost me $20,000 because my wife would say "that's fine, spend $10,000 on poker, I'm going to the mall".

there aren't a lot of huge gamblers on CP to my knowledge - I drop about $1,000 a week, I would imagine I'm top ten (on this site) in spending on gambling events. It's my 'drinking.'

The games I play reciprocate nicely, generally -

Maybe I need to start playing poker. :)

Um, yeah. At $52,000 a year I would imagine your top ten here for sure. I host a home poker game weekly(you guys are invited next time your in AZ)and hit Vegas twice a year. I go to the local places a few times a year. Definitly one of my favorite activities but I limit myself and don't go to crazy. Few grand a year, I'm guessing?

I'm being honest - I've never really discussed it much on CP, but I gamble my ass off. HOWEVER I handle all of my responsibilities, good credit and a savings account - so w/o trying to sound like a dickhead, I can afford it and enjoy it and have no wife to answer to - so for now; it works out okay for me.

The most I won was 50k and I'd only mentioned it to Clay - when I'd won - a few othes since.

But anyhow... Enough of me. please carry on...

Back in my hay day I used to play anywhere from 1-2 NL up to 25-50 NL. I held my own outside of $25-50 NLH.

Never poker, just sports. It is hard to say how much I spend on it because at this point I'm ahead this year. But I'll usually bet one sporting event a night. Last night I had a prop bet that LeVeon Bell would score at +136 and EDM-TB u5.5. Won both so that was nice. Also had a large amount of money on the Chiefs to win outright Sunday.

I almost won a seat to the main event. Two days, 100+ players made the final four and some fuck head sucked out on me with his pocket jacks. I had an ace high flush and he hit four of a kind on the fucking river.
Them's the breaks.

I play cash games online and live, but also go on a few trips throughout the year for the circuit and of course i spend a week or 2 in vegas in June for the WSOP. Highly recommended the monster stack or millionaire maker. 1.5k buy ins that attract huge fields and 1MM+ to the winner. In fact, im driving home from Chicago circuit as we speak so i can see my Royals

i filed as a pro last yr, but cant seem to beat demonpenz or his friends in 5 dollar home games lol

if u have any questions just ask

Start playing poker Red, and maybe cut down on some of your other gambling. Poker will help mitigate ur losses and still give u ur gambling fix..and u wont lose near as much playing based on the time invested. One of the cheapest and most rewarding hobbies out there

Booking a flight is a concern. The millionaire make is a 6 day event. Do most people just book for the duration of the event, or is changing flights a pain the in ass? I only ask because typically I get burnt on Vegas after 3 or 4 days.

If I had to guess, I'd say the top 5 gamblers on this site in terms of volume would be...

1. Nzoner - The dude is freaking 7star at Harrah's. That's 3/4 of a million gambled bare minimum to hit that status.

2. Me. I'm not even going to talk about how much I spend, on what, or what not. It's ridiculous, but my wife and I enjoy it, have no kids, and when we do it we can afford it, when we can't, we don't.

3. Simply Red - $1000 a week is nothing to sniff at

4. Hootie - Hundreds if not over a K on fantasy sports alone. He could be has high as number 2. I'm probably underestimating him here because I just found out he likes to play IL slots when he's shitfaced. ROFL It doesn't take me being shitfaced...

5. BWillie - You won't find anyone on this site more dedicated to the game of poker. I like this guy quite a bit for that alone.

Just play in the last day 1, so you wouldn't have to be there as long. And if you make day 4, well that's a good problem to have. Southwest only charges like a hundred bucks to move your flight back even on the day of

I'm game.

I almost made a platinum card in about a summers worth of gambling about 4 years ago. I was in a bad spot in my life, so I decided dropping 1k at the blackjack tables every weekend would be a good idea. Lol!

Thankfully those days are long gone.

I mainly stick to poker now, but i do enjoy a nice craps heater.

I haven't been in there yet, but I know the booze isn't free and they serve food that I believe is. That said, from what I've seen, it's filled with old people, so they'll look at me condescendingly when I walk in I'm sure.

Yeah, I'm down to play some poker. Wherever you think the best place is. I play at Harrah's the most for the perks, but Hollywood is my backup and I really like the place. Best buffet I've had in KC casinos for sure.

We have a fantasy poker game on Tuesday nights on Poker Stars. We used to play for $ until they shut that down. Now we do it like fantasy football. They have a home games section where you all join in a tournament. We play 3 tournaments each week. Winner gets 3 pts, 2nd place gets 1 pt. After 10 weeks, winner take all.

Pretty fun. We go on Skype at the same time and talk smack.

I actually prefer Harrahs as far as "gambling" goes, blackjack, craps ect. Since Hollywood opened its doors, their poker room has taken a lot of players from Ameristar and Harrahs. But it fluctuates as well.

I am stupid lucky on the slots at Hollywood, and not so much at Harrah's. Hollywood is a nice poker room, I'd definitely be down to play there.

The craps tables rock at Harrah's. I love the energy on those tables. Blackjack is pretty much blackjack too me, but I like Harrah's energy better there as well.

I've never been a big tournament player. I've played in the Deep Stack series @ Venetian my first Vegas trip and a few small online tournaments. I got 5th place in a tournament at Prairie Band Casino like 6 years ago and. Netted me a cool $120 in that one.

I've also been temped by the WSOP qualifier events Harrahs hosts monthly.

I use to play on the browser based sites like pokerroom.com

I'd play the $5 buy in tourneys after work and play for 4 or 5 hours a night. Back then it was super popular and the fish were thick. I'd make anywhere from $25-$150 a night depending. 4 of 5 I'd place in the money.

I was a big fish in the small water pond. I knew it and stayed there and could turn a small profit off of a fun hobby.

I never made more than $300 in one week (I'd bet on football as well) but it's a lot more than I make posting on CP (which is what I do in my free time now.)

Well, a novice should definitely stay away from bluffing at first, no doubt. Bwillie and I, are, presumably the same age. We were right, smack dab in the middle of the poker boom when we were 18. I probably played over a million hand on Party Poker. I think there's a good reason why the best poker players tend to be 25-33 at this point. From 18-20 I played about 100 hours of poker a week. The fact the US Government deems fantasy sports legal as a skill and poker illegal as luck is fucking ridiculous.

I play True Poker but rarely. It's not the same, man. No action. It's a huge downer. I can't wait until online poker is legal again in the US. True gives me like $20 free every few months to try and sink me back in but both times I ran it up past $100 and just sold it because online poker like that isn't fun for me

Hootie

Nothing will ever beat Party Poker. Oh, and I scammed Full Tilt for $3000 and feel ZERO bad about it. Hell, if I knew they'd never catch on and get shut down I would've taken them for $50K
