Dude has been money since his rough patch early in the season. I admit I was wrong in wanting to cut the cord so quickly. 8-8 over the past 5 games including a game winner and a 53-yarder today that gave us the lead going into the half.

Plus what was with those kickoffs today. Asked in the game thread but does it really make that much difference to have someone hold the ball on the tee? Dude was booming today.

Well done Cairo.

It's something I've noticed over the years. Kickers seem to kick the ball harder when there's someone holding the ball.

Not apologizing to a kicker but the guy did pretty well today.

I owe him an apology as well, hes been clutch. his kickoffs are inconsistant as heck. he could be a pretty good kicker some day. i saw where one of his kicks went into the stadium.

I don't know why but his first game, when he hit the uprights I thought to myself "I wonder if he knows it's supposed to go between them."

Then I had a flashback to the replacements when the kicker asked if he kicked it over or under the bottom pole.

Yeah.

What's the tiny kicker gonna do about it?

I don't owe him an apology, but was very pleased (and surprised) with him today. He definitely ate his Wheaties this morning. Showed off a strong leg.

Offer Andy Read a dish of cheesy potato casserole? For a friend of Simpy Red of course.

Seriously? Succop failed in the clutch more than once.

Succop's name and a 53 yard FG would never be mentioned in the same sentence

That first half was weird. They got pushed all over the place on the first drive and then turned the ball over inside our own 20, and yet by the end of the second quarter we had a mile-long field goal going in to take the lead. It was quite heartening to see a half where they weren't playing that well and still managed to take the lead.

The second half was even more heartening, of course.

He's been solid since the first game. I cant believe people were ragging on him so bad, he's a fucking rookie for fuck sake. Now, if he was still shitting the bed 4-5 games into it, then we got a problem!

Still a rookie though, things can turn bad, but so far, so good.

I'm not apologizing to the kid, his misses SUCKED and cost us much... but he HAS rebounded and so I will give him his due... he's really calmed down back there and made the kicks he has to make.

Thats what I'm talking about, thats what we're paying him for.

Not apologizing.

You have one fucking job as a kicker. Put the fucker through the uprights.

He didn't. He even fucked us out of that huge drive we put on the Broncos that was over 10 minutes of game clock and shanked the shit out of it.

He should be apologizing to me, not the other way around.

He's been doing his job the past couple games. Fantastic.

Now keep doing that.

I never said he should go. Succop just wasn't good enough for his check.

But succop definitely would have missed from 53.

Yup. Succop had several kicks blocked. Didn't have the leg and would always kick it low.

Heh (http://www.foxsports.com/kansas-city/story/3-in-the-kee-you-just-can-t-stop-santos-parker-or-the-power-of-toub-102714):

May I take back every less-than-nice thing I might've said about Cairo Santos?

You may. The little rookie with the big leg was all smiles Sunday afternoon, having rocked a 53-yarder -- with room to spare -- to end the first half and extending his personal field-goal makes streak to eight in a row.

"It's good to gain more confidence when you start making those long ones, those pressure kicks," said Santos, who hasn't whiffed on a kick -- field goal or extra point -- since the Chiefs' trip to Denver in Week 2. "You start to gain more confidence and feel more comfortable. That even translated to the touchbacks (Sunday). I was more comfortable and hitting them better. Everything's getting a lot better; the biggest thing was just thinking about the next kick and don't get complacent."

With his ninth and 10th makes of the season, Santos moved into fifth place in the Chiefs' history books for most field goals made by a rookie in a campaign. The former Tulane standout is 10 for 12 on the year, 83.3 percent -- funny enough, the same numbers Ryan Succop, the man he replaced, has put up so far with Tennessee. Succop holds the Chiefs' single-season record for field-goal makes by a rookie with 25, set in 2009.
