Lake effect snow. This happens when extremely cold air passes over a relatively warm body of water, in this case Lake Erie. The swath of heavy snow from this storm is very narrow (approximately 20 miles).

I went to college in Buffalo but I never saw it like this. We had some heavy snow but this is bananas.

They're thinking Monday night but not sure on the venue.
