View Full Version : Chiefs Will we beat Denver?

I think we lose by multiple scores, but I can see us sneaking out a win if a few things happen.

1) Avery returning brings an added element to the offense and forces Denver to back their safeties up. This is an element they haven't seen on tape to prepare for and I wouldn't be surprised if we come out and test them deep a few times early on.

2) Avant is able to get us 3 or 4 first downs. Alex Smith has throw too many good passes that should have gone for first downs if the catch is secured. Hopefully Avant can give us what Dexter did last year down the stretch in terms of possession receiver.

3) Houston, Hali, Poe, Bailey and Ford find ways to pressure Manning and limit him to shorter throws.

4) Gaines/Smith finds a way to match up with their receivers. This will be the toughest test our secondary will face all year.

5) Our OL gives Alex time to find the open man and opens up a few holes for Charles and Davis.

6) Alex gets the ball to Kelce a lot more. This kid should be getting 7-10 targets every game.

7) As with any other game, win the turnover battle. We can't afford to cough up the ball against them and we will need to take it away a couple times, too.

8) Crowd noise. It needs to be loud as it can be to help our pass rush get Manning uncomfortable.

I guess I could list a lot more things we have going for u that can give us a chance to win this one, but it's gonna be tough.

I'd bet real money that Sutton has some pass rush packages that include Ford that he hasn't shown yet and Dee Ford played really well in the bigger games in college. I can see him making an impact in this one.

So much of this game will be determined by Phillip Gaines. He's the best matchup we have have for Emmanuel Sanders.
Take Sanders out of the game and we have a real chance.

Andy has 10 days to prepare. He's got a
A great record when he has extra time. I see a lot of new wrinkles from him and Avery/Avant are big upgrades over Jenkins and Hemmingway.

I think with the extra time, home SNF atmosphere, health of returning players, frustration from last weeks debacle, urgency for our playoff spot and finally the emotion we'll use for Berry, I think we win.

Yeah, no.

If the Chiefs are going to win this game, it is going to be with a ball-control offense. Keeping Manning off the field and not making stupid mistakes and penalties will be crucial. If the Chiefs control the game with their style of play, the Chiefs win 20-17. If they are unable to keep drives going and the defense stays on the field too long, the Broncos win 31-24.

I think we hold a lead for about two and a half quarters, then Peyton will eviscerate us like he always does. I hate to say it, but I think that's what is going to happen. Peyton does that shit in 90% of his games with everyone.

I think the Chiefs will play inspired and will show some flaws with the Broncos, but when a team can trot out a QB that is arguably a top three to five QB in history, it's a hell of an equalizer.

The Rams figured out how to hold them to 7 points. I would think Reid paid close attention to what was done during that game along with the Patriots game when 5 head was held to 21 points.
Going out on a limb but I think our defense holds them to 21 or less. That is a very winnable game for us especially at home.

KC played Denver after their bye last year and lost. The extra time to prepare doesn't really matter in divisional games because both teams know eachother so well.

We were curb stomping them last year but then Manning threw bombs by burning Flowers and Lewis deep. Hopefully our new CB's will be able to defend that bc they are much faster

Teams that beat Manning tend to play a lot of zone or more complicated man/zone coverages. Chiefs defense is very simple and has never given him any trouble before. Chiefs could still win, but will likely entail an outlier perfomance from an Alex Smith from an offensive and points production standpoint.

Will probably be decided by the refs, to be honest.

I don't think KC is strong enough yet to beat Denver AND the officiating. If Houston and Hali are getting held all day and that's overlooked? Chiefs lose. If the refs throw multiple ticky-tack DPI calls against KC, Chiefs lose.

I really don't know what I'm feeling about this one. It could truly go a lot of different ways, and none of them would surprise me.

Off topic, why the F do Broncos fans buy a Manning jersey? He's not your QB, most of his damage was done with another franchise. He's pretty much renting a home then moving back to Indianapolis when it's over. Odd.

Brian Dawkins and John Lynch only played a few years in Denver they still live there. Peyton might just own a part of the Broncos one day...

I have my doubts but i'm not actually going to vote No.

abstain before i vote towards donkeys

Thank you, its an integrity thing... if we had been sucking ass, then the answer would be an easy No against such a huge offensive "juggernaut" like denver, but we werent even close to being blown out in their own house.

Even though it hadnt been that long since the loss of DJ and DeVito... we were still reeling and scrambling trying to regain our balance.

The list of CP stalwarts saying no is deeply saddening to me, its gonna take me until atleast these first few pieces of tonights pizza to recover... and even then, as I pass out from food drunkeness, I'll still not forgive these lilly livered bastards for being so damn traitorous.

ps - Boss hasnt seen fit to confirm Mays starting at ILB, whatevs... boss.

When will you understand that ABC logic doesn't work in football?

We've beaten every team that's beat the Broncos. Two of those absolutely slaughtered the Broncos yet got slaughtered by us.

The Broncos just played a super tight game at home against Miami. We went on the road and beat them by two scores without Jamaal.

Your one shot is to catch Denver off guard. I recommend running a play called "The Annexation of Puerto Rico." Six or seven times.

No one will ever expect that.

same thing could be said about Montana and KC, but I still have his jersey.

The only Chiefs QB jersey worth owning is Lenny's. Sure we didn't draft him but he took us to two SBs winning one.

Prediction: Broncos will beat Chiefs

By Adam Teicher | ESPN.com

The Kansas City Chiefs certainly aren't going into Sunday night's game against the Denver Broncos with a head of steam, not after losing last week to the previously winless Oakland Raiders. Still, having won five straight heading into Oakland, the Chiefs have a lot going for them and it’s to the point where I have to wonder whether the Chiefs will ever get another chance this good to beat the Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

Denver has wobbled some in recent weeks as well, though the Broncos looked potent in overcoming the Miami Dolphins last Sunday. Still, the Broncos have road losses this season against Seattle, New England and St. Louis, all teams that have lost to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. By the way, that’s where Sunday night’s game will be played.

The Chiefs have a lot of bad history against Manning. They are 1-12 all-time against him, dating to his time with the Indianapolis Colts. More importantly, they are 0-5 against Manning since he joined the Broncos in 2012.

This simply hasn’t been a good matchup for the Chiefs. They came close in September in Denver, losing by a touchdown. But they did everything right that day until the final seconds when they couldn’t tie the score despite taking four shots inside the Denver 10. If they couldn’t beat Denver by limiting Manning to 46 plays and less than 24 minutes of possession then, it’s going to be hard for them to do it this time.

My prediction: Broncos 27, Chiefs 17.

Manning made a huge mistake this season by stating that he plans to play for several more years. If he said he was retiring this year, there's no way he wouldn't get a Super Bowl win. But now the NFL has time to build up his marketing story, so they'll probably go with a different storyline this year.
