A fun and inexpensive gift is a customized wallet from Dynomighty. I bought myself one earlier this year, and it was fun to design and to use.

Here's mine (with a little wear). It's a photo that I took last year on Easter Island. You can also print two or three photos on the inside of the wallet as well, but I got fancy and did a collage, so I won't confuse you by showing the inside. But the bottom line is that it's cheap, fun to make, and creative.

I was also poking around on odditymall.com. Do NOT do a search on that site for "condiments". http://odditymall.com/

If you want to buy someone the paint as a Christmas gift, I can probably look up the color.

4 years later and she still uses it every single day. She loves the thing, and it's held up really really well. It can be washed if it gets dirty

Worth every single penny.

And it's fake fur. But it is incredibly soft. If you can afford it, your wife or whomever will love it.

They also do deals sometimes, you can find the blankets on sale for like 150

Obviously there is jewelry and designer handbags and that crap, but one less obvious one thing that is always appreciated by my wife is "things that help her get/keep/stay WARM".

Things that have gone over well in the past like:

1. Heated mattress pad for the bed (huge win for New England winters!)

2. nicer, warm slippers.

3. good coats. More expensive than what she would typically buy for herself. Not fur, but North Face or whatever.

4. (her request, I would never have thought of this) alpaca wool socks and a some kind of poncho type thing. Ordered the stuff from, errr, Peru? Someplace in South America. Somewhat pricey, but not completely ridiculous.

My wife is pretty practical, so what ends up happening is special occassions are opportunities to buy her something that she wants, is useful, but she wouldn't spend the money on herself for.

We do that for everything but Christmas. I'm currently a few birthdays ahead, in fact. :)

However, her family has always done 'adoptables", where we buy stuff for us and/or the kids and they'll buy them from us and then give them to us as gifts. It kind of sucks losing the element of surprise but at least you get what you want.

Same thing happened at our place. Used it often for a month or so, hardly used it again. It's not bad at all, I just think we ran out of flavour packets and were too lazy to get new ones. The coke flavored one sucked but I really enjoyed the lime one.

How is it?I've always wondered.

As with anything of this nature (and soda in general) it is all about your personal preference. I really like them as does my wife and dad whom we bought this one for.

The feel, texture, and fizz is the same but the flavors are not going to be the same as Coke or Dr. Pepper. They have their versions of those drinks as well as all the other flavors of soda so it really is just a matter of discovering if you like the flavors they offer. The two I mentioned are my favorite. The orange is also pretty good.

I definitely wouldn't jump into it without tasting some of the flavors. I only invested in ours after tasting some at a store. If you know someone with one or see it at a store give it a try. You definitely won't find it gross and you may really enjoy it. It is a cheaper and "healthier" alternative.

Funny you brought up gifts. At work they came up with this stupid secret santa shit all the sudden and I felt stupid to bow out so have been trying to think of a gift. I actually drew the boss.

$20 limit.

After some thought, I decided to get a $20 Lowes gift card.

But I'm gonna make him work for it. I am going to send him on a mission. A letter with a hint to go to another spot to get a hint to go to another spot to get a hint to go to the gift. The gift will be huge. A box in a box in a box in a box in a box. Then a comment saying " you didn't think it would be here did you?" then send him to the glove box of his snow plow truck to get the gift card. He makes me work. It's his turn.

I'm a big fan of Izze, but it's a tad pricey. Also, I have a good juicer. How does the sodastream do with the basic job of carbonation, and how easy is it to just carbonate fresh fruit juice, or at least mix carbonated water with fresh fruit juice?

It does carbonation really well and it holds the fizz a good amount of time even after numerous opening and closings of the bottle.

You carbonate before mixing in the flavors so you would mix your juice with the carbonated water. I imagine people on out there have tried what you are suggesting so you may be able to get more firsthand information on it.
