Sounds like Mike Smith will be on his way out in Atlanta.

While they've struggled the last two seasons, I don't think he was the problem. The Falcons are making a bad decision IMO.

They are sure to bring in a great coach with Pioli in the front office.

He isn't the problem, but he isn't the solution either.

Atlanta won't win anything unless Dimitroff suddenly improves.

It's the Pioli effect. That team went straight in the shitter the second he came on board.

Stephen Jackson couldn't stay healthy, or good, as the Turner replacement
Osi Umenyiora was a complete bust as a replacement for Abraham
Jones has been hurt/injured in back-to-back seasons
The OL was lousy last year, and destroyed by injury this year

Someone's going to take the fall because Blank's not happy. It looks as if Smith gets to be the scapegoat.

As I said before, Dimitroff deserves a large part of the blame. But Smith didn't nothing but exacerbate the situation with his clock management.

Mike Smith was their best option and they might have a hard time getting a good replacement since the owner already hired a search firm before the year ended.

I think he's outworn his welcome in ATL. 7 seasons and 1 PO W. He and Lewis should hit the road together.

Why Not?

GMs usually get to make a second hire, so Dimitroff gets a mulligan. Idzik being fired in NY is BS considering the owner forced Sexy Rexy on him, though.

Dimitroff has been okay I guess. Just not really sure how they are going to upgrade.

I don't think the coaching pool this year is impressive. I'm sure everyone will say Cowher and Gruden again, but they aren't coming back.

I guess they will court Josh McDaniels lol

Reid proved yesterday that it doesn't matter who his qb is. He will run that horizontal offense regardless.

He is a 56% winning coach. He will never win anything in Kansas city and the sooner he is gone the better.

He's been terrible imo. He's more to blame than Mike Smith for sure. There is no talent on the defense and no depth overall. Hell, the dude even hired Pioli to help him last year and then signed Jackson, Asamoah, and Arenas. come on man!

Can we fire Reerun run? His football takes are awful.

Wasn't he the same idiot who railed against Sutton most of the year while the defense was ranked in the top 10 and hadn't gave up a 300 yard passer all year? Now he's bitching about the coach who's lead them to back to back winning seasons for only the 3rd time in the last 30 years.

I hope we get rid of our O Line coach, and our WR coach. Wouldn't mind bringing Tressman in as OC though, bi I don't think Andy will give up the offense.

I read the other day the Bears might go after the Chiefs Director of Player Personnel Chris Ballard.

He was an area scout for several years with them. Emery moved him to the pro side as director of pro scouting. He was lovies first choice for GM in Tampa but turned it down. If he stays I would think he's inline for a promotion to assistant GM sooner rather than later. If he took the Bears job he would likely interview Toub. I don't see the Bears taking another shot on first time GM and HC though. Maybe pair him with Ryan with both reporting to the team president type deal. Shanahan would probably want to choose his own personnel guy. Probably Rex too anywhere other than Atlanta where he wouldn't have that option
